  2. Purpose Of This Training • Understand how/where to use your resources • Understand and apply tax law • Prepare accurate tax returns • Understand use of software and e-filing • Understand the Quality Review Process NJ Training TY 2008

What Kind of Returns Can I Prepare and For Whom? • Only returns, schedules and forms for which you have been trained and certified and appear on the NJ “Can Do” List • We prepare returns for clients of any age and any income. Scheduling preference is given to the more senior population. Clients do not have to be members of AARP. NJ Training TY 2008

  6. How Did We Do Last Year In NJ??We did great? Can we do better? You bet we can! Number of people assisted: 57K Up 19% from last year including Stimulus Number of Federal Returns: 35.7K Number of Returns e-filed: 17.9K E-file % ~50% Up 31%+ from last year North Atlantic Region (NY, NJ & PA) ~64% National e-file % ~80% DC Meeting 2008 6 v13

  7. Confidentiality, Privacy And Security Keep taxpayer information strictly confidential Delete taxpayer data from computers by April 30th Retain only documents necessary for e-file process NJ Integrated Training - 2007 Tax Season 7 9/16/2014

  8. INSURANCE COVERAGE Travel accident insurance coverage if on Tax-Aide business Insurance is supplemental to Medicare or its equivalent and covers medical expenses and/or death only.   10. Counselor Certification Requirements STEP 1 – Pass the IRS test with 80% for each segment (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced). STEP 2 - Proficiency Three scenarios (Moore, Fleming, Sterling) from Pub 4491-W (federal only) Plus one NJ complete return (Jones) Must be completed and reviewed by second Counselor STEP 3 – Sign the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Note: Must use 2009 Law and Software NJ Integrated Training - 2007 Tax Season 10 9/16/2014
