  1. Banana Jam By Eric Twinge and David Donaldson

  2. The Idea “Banana Jam is a healthy, convenient and ethically responsible way to enjoy the great taste of banana’s in a spread.”

  3. The Benefit • Healthy • When you compare a banana to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin C and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. • Convenient • Banana on toast is a common snack but it’s inconvenient for those in a hurry as it takes time to mash the banana into a paste and clean up afterwards. Banana Jam has the same health benefits but takes the hassle out of preparing the meal. • Ethically Responsible • Banana Jam is made from Fair Trade bananas and we will be applying to use the fair trade logo on our products.

  4. The Market • Market Size • The spreads Market in the UK was worth £414.7 Million in 2011. Jams and Fruit Spreads make up the largest segment accounting for 26% of the market or £107.8 Million. • Market Growth • Sales of sweet spreads have experienced 32% growth since 2006, the growth coming largely on the back of rising retail prices driven by increasing commodity costs. • Price Points • The average price of for Jam’s and Fruit Spreads is £0.52 per 100grams but prices vary considerably from £0.21 at the bottom end of the scale to £0.79 at the top. We plan to price ourselves at the top end of the scale at £0.72 per 100grams or £2.25 per 300gm Jar.
