Similar Figures. Chapter 5. What are similar figures?. Similar figures have the same shape but are not necessarily the same size. Corresponding sides are sides that are in the same relative position on two different shapes.

  2. What are similar figures? • Similar figures have the same shape but are not necessarily the same size.

  3. Corresponding sides are sides that are in the same relative position on two different shapes. • Corresponding angles are angles that are in the same relative position on two different shapes.

  4. Two Figures are similar if…. • The corresponding side lengths are proportional. • The corresponding angles are congruent.

  6. Indirect measurement uses similar figures to find the length, width, or height of objects that are too difficult to measure directly.
