Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company 2008 an Overview 2008 was generally a very good year with few outstanding incidents with major failings. There was obvious significant changes in August with the announcement of company restructure Following this, months of uncertainty, but generally good spirits on the shop floor and no compromise in safety So how did we perform?

A Target area for 2009, which will tie in with the IIF programme

Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company Environmental • Environmental incidents remain rare and we do not expect any significant changes in 2009 to affect this. • Objectives in this area will be included in the EMS management system to maintain 14001 accreditation. *

Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company What we Did in 2008 • Manager and supervisor training sessions which looked at: All 2007 incidents& classification (LES) Behavioural safety & training for all Supervisors & Managers • Had a more caring a proactive management team • Increased safety cover for most areas • Has more settled workforce utilising long term operatives • Maintained robust management systems

Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company What Else Did We Do? • Improved and implemented new risk assessment documents • Changed the glove policy to include wider choice of gloves • Increased audit numbers by the inclusion of figures at board meeting • Had more visible director involvement on main sites (Novartis, HTL. COP etc) • Refreshed the driving policy and authorisation system • Had better Client involvement in some areas *

Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company Expectations for 2009 • Set injury Targets for 2009 as follows: LTA = 0 medical treatment cases (E1) = 0 RIDDOR reportable = 0 environmental incidents = 0 First Aid cases leave expected target line at 1.15 (based on 100K man hours) Equating to Approx. 14 FA injuries using 1200000 forecasted man hours for 2009 Number remains the same as we expect the possibility of more FA cases as defined by the OSHA reporting system (PV may cease to be) *

Engineering Ltd Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Engineers A Jacobs Company Targets/Action plan • Compare LES systems with Jacobs to ensure there is no conflict • Conduct Orientation workshops for all employees / look at Supervisor section • Role out changes and expectations. • More emphasis on ‘Slick’ work Management (utilising MS tools to max. effect including audits) (SUPERVISION) • Develop and implement refresher training sessions at shop floor • 2009 induction programme (role out to all employees) & a specific staff induction *
