What does it mean to be prepared and on-time? Follow classroom responsibilities Complete classwork and homework Arrive to class prepared and on-time – withcompleted homework!! Be in assigned seat at the bell, with all necessary supplies This class isfun if you are ready! Responsible
Optimistic What does it mean to participate appropriately? • Stay focused on the topic and the work • Contribute to the class and group • Raise your hand instead of interrupting • Keep voice appropriate to class lesson • Keep all questions and commentsrelevantandon-task! • Show a positive attitude You start the class “Back board… then front board…” • Planner • First Item of Today’s Plan
Courageous What does it mean to show strong character? • Your work represents YOU – be proud of what you turn in! • Stand up for what is right • Be sure others’ voices are heard • Be willing to add ideas to what you already know

Textbook Literature • Use onlyyour textbook! • You are responsible for it!! • Can take home anytime, or leave in classroom or locker Must be in classroom every day for class!
How am I Graded? Academic Grade: • Projects, Assignments, Tests, Quizzes: 90% • Practice Assignments, Reading Practice: 10% **How well do you show standard? • Non-Academic Grades: • Work Completion • Is work on-time, complete, of good quality? • Participation • Do you stay on-task and follow the rules? • Do you participate appropriately? • Are you developing a strong, positive character? • Do you show respect? **Do you ROCK in the classroom?
Academic GradesWhat happens if I need a review? Sometimes students need more than just class time to “get it.” • Homework • Core time • Check – is your teacher available during CORE? • Teacher-requested CORE time is required • Lunch-In • Obtain a lunch pass • Teacher-requested lunch-in is required
Why do I need a reading book? Answer in-class skill questions Re-take quizzes Reading Practice **It is your responsibility to have a reading book for every core class!!

Non-Academic GradesWhat happens if I don’t ROCK? “Last Warning” = verbalwarning from teacher Think-Time Slip = self-reflection on paper Minor offense or Major offense Students will self-evaluate their non-academic grades each week
Food and Drink • Gum: OK in thisclass • See no gum • Hear no gum • Feel no gum Trashcan it on the way out! Follow the rules = keep the gum • Water bottles OK • Class is not the time to eat – keep food in Commons
“Off Limits” Areas • Cabinets • Center media station • Back wall – including White Board • Chevy’s desk area • Chevy’s chairs
What if I need something during class? Get up and get it! • Water • Supplies • Pencil sharpening • Etc. Be respectful…
Transitions “The Countdown” or “The Bell” • Finish your sentence (not your paragraph!) • Put down all utensils • Eyes and ears open for instructions Following Directions Smooth Classroom Activities!
Leaving the Classroom during class • Inform teacher • Take a pass if needed • Sign out • Go to destination only! • Sign in upon return
Ending Class • Room thoroughly clean • All supplies, notebooks, and textbooks put away neatly • Desks, floor, and room are clean • All chairs pushed inorup on the desks • All students standing behind chairs, ready for review Mrs Chevy dismisses the class... not the bell!
What if I lose an assignment or rubric? Check Skyward! Check Chevy’s website! Ask during CORE time!
Re-doing Assignments Just about anything can be re-done Projects/Assignments that do not reach standard are required to be re-done! Score will be in Skyward Will be marked “MI” (missing) CORE will be assigned when necessary
Book Reports Requirements Read books within your range Read books the required length What is due? Four each semester Instructions and rubric available In Classroom On Chevy’s Website
“Exit Slips” How are they “scored”? “Practice” assignment 4-point scale More details and information higher score
