Nuclear Deliverable Implementation Categories Version 2.0 October 2009 Category 1 Category 2 • Definition: • Recommended implementation actions that have increased visibility and/or endorsement by regulatory or industry organizations. Highest priority for review/implementation. • Types: • Regulatory - response to regulatory initiatives such as NEI-03-08, safety evaluation reports, and country-specific regulatory requirements. Example: inspection and evaluation guidelines. • Industry commitment – proactive, agreed-upon measures for addressing an industry-wide issue such as fuel reliability guidelines • Codes & standards – actions tied into code application, such as ASME codes and standards • Definition: • Implementation options that enable member plants and personnel to function more effectively in meeting performance, reliability, and safety goals.  Highly important for review/consideration to implement. • Types: • Plant optimization – guidebooks, handbooks or recommendations for increasing plant performance, decreasing costs, and/or optimizing safety and/or reliability of nuclear assets • Skills development – training material or programs • Software – computer software applications Reference Strategic–Long Term • Definition: • Foundational building blocks for product research and development, often including scientific findings and field experience that feed into Category 1 or Category 2 recommendations. • Reference Types: • Benchmarking – plant operating experience and/or benchmarking studies • Early R&D - basic/early phase of R&D findings (3-5 yr outlook) • Planning guides - planning or program guides; action plans • Proceedings - documentation from key member meetings • Technical basis - background or fundamental information that substantiates a Category 1 or Category 2 item Definition: Items with long-term focus (e.g. technology innovation scope, 5-10 yr outlook) and/or provides strategic insight for the industry. Including, but not limited to: new technology, new techniques and strategic planning documents. Examples: Fuel Fragmentation Studies, Advanced Technologies for Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation, Nanotechnology
