  2. THE GEOPOLITICS OF OIL It is of course threatening to know that most of the global crude oil sources that the world depends upon locate in the countries infected by political turmoil. It is a common knowledge that crude oil is the most consumed energy resource in almost every part of the world. More than 80% of industries and house-hold depend upon oil to fulfill their critical requirements. It’s hard to imagine the sustainability of life without the supply of such petroleum products. Since, alternative energies like Solar and Hydro are still in their infancy, crude oil yet remain the widest source of energy in the world. Geographically, Middle-East & North African countries, i.e. Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia etc. remains the largest hub for crude oil resource.

GLOBAL SEED VAULT • The Global Seed Vault located in the Arctic at Svalbard, Norway is a project of the Global Crop Diversity. • The high-security seed vault houses in cold storage crop seeds from all over the world as a means of protecting biodiversity through conservation. • The seeds stored at the vault included crop species which are threatened as well as more common varieties. Protection of biodiversity of crop species may prove critical in the face of global climate change
