  2. The Idea • A smaller coordinating body • Meet 3-4 times per year • Short presentations, open discussions • Encourage interdisciplinary projects and external proposals

  3. Build on the Experience of CRI • Open new communication lines between different Centers/Institutes • Interdisciplinary work that would not otherwise have come in • Connecting technology researchers with many other disciplines

  4. Caveat • True, CRI had a bunch of seed money to "invest", but those projects actually brought in about 2.5M$ in new grants. • Quite successful in bringing in new activities that would not otherwise have happened.

  5. The Goals • Find common interests and complementary expertise • Seek opportunities that otherwise would fall between the cracks • Enjoy a cup of coffee with friends • Find a bit of seed money to help start some of the best

  6. Bottom Line The more that successful people talk together, the more new success stories there will be.
