  2. Quotes from Mao • “War can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun.” • In this Quote, Mao isn’t thinking clearly. He is saying that the only way to stop war is by joining and winning the war. The only way to defend against the gun is by taking up the gun to fight against the gun. This isn’t clear for if you take up the gun to defend against the gun there will always be a gun pointed in someone’s face.

  3. Quotes from Mao • “Classes Struggle, some classes triumph, others are eliminated. Such is history; such is the history of civilization for thousands of years.” • This quote is smartly said. He is saying something complex in a very simple manner. He is saying that some classes will die off and others will be prevail. Like the dynasties most of them have died off while the poor classes survive.

  4. I am thirteen and my brother is sixteen. We have been starving for the three years of the beginning of the revolution. My father was a part of the Communist Party, and the Red Guards did not like that. My older brother went to school and I stayed at home on the farm. My brother had came home early one day from school and said that a man said that the students need to focus on the Cultural Revolution, so school was dismissed for the week. When he went back to school he said that he saw his teacher Mr. Cho was being tortured by the Red Guards. The Red Guards came to our house and sent me ad my mother to the rural areas of China. While we were traveling to the caves, the Red Guards read from the Red Book. When we arrived to the caves people came out to greet us and they were so amazed by our beautiful fabrics. The good thing was that we were getting paid, but then we found out that we were not going to get paid until the end of the year, then when we go paid it was not much. We were not allowed to leave the area,so we were stuck there in poverty. I realized after talking with one of the Red Guards that the youth population was decreasing by the days. There were over three million people died already from the six years of this revolution. The people who were being tortured were communist and the ways they wee being tortured was mentally and some physical pain. I thought about my father wondering if he was still alive. The revolution killed over seven million people which were mostly the youth of China. The Cultural Revolution lasted for ten years straight. The only caste system that was not affected by the revolution was the upper caste system. I was one of the few who found a good paying job after the revolution. I was a history teacher for a local high school. We survivors were treated poorly hen we returned home. We were not honored for surviving but punished by society. The Cultural Revolution was an event that should have never happened. First Narrative Story
