  1. Global warming Global warmin By- POONAM GHULE AND SUVARNA KOKATE

  2. SUB POINTS • Meaning of global warming • Causes of global warming • Effects of global warming • Control measures of global warming

  3. Meaning of global warming Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released by people burning fossil fuels.

  4. The global average surface temperature rose 0.6 to 0.9 degrees Celsius (1.1 to 1.6° F) between 1906 and 2005, and the rate of temperature increase has nearly doubled in the last 50 years. Temperatures are certain to go up further

  5. Causes of global warming 1. Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning power plants 2. Carbon dioxide emissions from burning gasoline for transportation

  6. 3. Methane emissions from animals, agriculture such as rice paddies, and from Arctic seabeds 4. Deforestation, especially tropical forests for wood, pulp, and farmland

  7. 5. Global Warming Cause: Increase in usage of chemical fertilizers on croplands

  8. Effects of global warming • Rise in sea levels worldwide • More killer storms

  9. Massive crop failures Widespread extinction of species

  10. Disappearance of coral reefs

  11. Changes in insect pests:Climate change can affect the number and kinds of pests directly. It can also affect them by changing the mix of plant varieties and their nutrient content. This can influence plant survival, food chains, and the spread of disease.

  12. The general retreat of mountain glaciers during the past century is one example of evidence that the climate is changing

  13. Control measures of global warming Use Public Transport Use Renewable Energy Like Wind Power

  14. Burn Methane Use Smart Cooler, Heater & Air Conditioner

  15. Tune up and maintain vehicles properly Clean the air in your house

  16. Reduce electricity usage to the maximum Prefer recycling
