  2. What is Global Warming • Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation.

  3. Global Warming

  4. Facts about Global Warming • Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades, according to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. • The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. And the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850. • The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004. • Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss. • Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana's Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later. • Coral reefs, which are highly sensitive to small changes in water Temperature , suffered the worst bleaching—or die-off in response to stress— ever recorded in 1998, with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent. Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise. • An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.

  5. 6 Effects of Global Warming 1. Corals are being bleached by stress form warmer waters in the Florida Keys, affecting tourism and the health of a wide array of sea life that relies on the corals. 2. Economic consequencesMost of the effects of anthropogenic global warming won’t be good. And these effects spell one thing for the countries of the world: economic consequences. Hurricanes cause do billions of dollars in damage, diseases cost money to treat and control and conflicts exacerbate all of these.3. Increased probability and intensity of droughts and heat wavesalthough some areas of Earth will become wetter due to global warming, other areas will suffer serious droughts and heat waves. Africa will receive the worst of it, with more severe droughts also expected in Europe. Water is already a dangerously rare commodity in Africa, and according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global warming will exacerbate the conditions and could lead to conflicts and war.4. Warmer waters and more hurricanesas the temperature of oceans raises, so will the probability of more frequent and stronger hurricanes. We saw in this in 2004 and 2005.5. Spread of diseaseas northern countries warm, disease carrying insects migrate north, bringing plague and disease with them. Indeed some scientists believe that in some countries thanks to global warming, malaria has not been fully eradicated.6. Drought, fueled in part by climate change, is fueling a cycle of fire and invasion by foreign grasses that threaten desert landscapes, including those at Joshua Tree National Park.

  7. Although some people will think Global Warming is natural disaster, the truth that people disaster. 1.leading to global warming is mainly due to human beings in nearly a century, large-scale use of fossil fuels (such as coal, oil, etc.), discharge large amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. As these greenhouse gases on the short-wave radiation from the sun with a high degree of through sexual, while out of the earth long-wave radiation reflected a high degree of absorbency, which is often said that the greenhouse effect ", leading to global warming. 2. recently scientists have proposed a new idea that cosmic rays are one of the causes of global warming, he formed in the lower atmosphere by changing the way clouds to make global warming. 3.Population explosion factor In recent years, the rapid increase in population led to one of the main factors of global warming. At the same time, it also seriously threatens the balance between the natural ecological environment.

  8. Greenhouse Effect The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that the Earth experiences because certain gases in the atmosphere (water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane, for example) trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth’s average temperature would be about 60ºF colder. Because of how they warm our world, these gases are referred to as greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect is important. Without the greenhouse effect, the Earth would not be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it could make the Earth warmer than usual. Even a little extra warming may cause problems for humans, plants, and animals.

  9. Conclusion Global warming itself is a reality (or at least, it was, until about 10 years ago). The addition of certain pollutants like the carbon dioxide gases increases the temperature of the earth. These gases remain close to the surface of earth, forming an insulating layer. The surface becomes hot due to the solar radiations. This radiation is normally reflected back into the space.
