Electricity Prices are Stable Compared to Oil Rising fuel prices since 2000 have been a drag on the overall economy, sapping consumer spending and increasing operating costs for businesses. • Prices have been rising for all liquid fuels, including alternatives biofuels. CNG stands out as an exception due to low wellhead prices. • Compared to rising prices and substantial volatility in liquid fuels, the retail price of electricity has been extremely stable.
