The research project in Madzu has successfully retraced 89% of original households, with 50 cases finding original respondents and 28 spouses and enumerating 535 people in 2002 out of 89 households. Data collection and entry are now completed, with data cleaning ongoing and consolidation of data files in progress. Preliminary analyses have seen the construction of transition matrices and various patterns identified. Next steps involve multinomial analyses of poverty traps, profit/production function estimation for maize and bean enterprises, with results to be utilized in CLASSES.
