  3. What is a noun? • A noun is a word that names a person, place, or thing. • Example: Pablo lives in a house on my street. His grandparents came from Puerto Rico • Notice that the noun Puerto Rico is two words that names one place. Nouns can be two or more words.

  4. What is a noun? • Nouns can also name feelings, thoughts, and ideas. • Excitement • Fear • Freedom • Anger • Happiness

  5. Which words are nouns? • The students planned a party. • The band played happy, loud music. • Excitement filled the air. • Pedro Casals won a prize. • The bandstand was covered with ribbons.

  9. Find each noun in the paragraph The state of Veracruz in Mexico is a feast for travelers. Visit its beaches and mountains. Learn its fascinating history and culture. Travel from the Gulf of Mexico to the mountains of the Sierra Madre.
