  • It flows through the towns of Bala, Llandrillo, Corwen, Llangdollen, Bangor-on-Dee, Farndon, Chester and Flint.
  • Downstream of Bangor-on-Dee the river becomes the natural border between Wales and England.

  • The River Dee is a special area of conservation due to important population of Atlantic salmon, freshwater pearl mussel and European otter.

The Dee Estuary is one of the UK’s premier birding locations for wetland and shorebirds such as Shelduck, Wigeon, Teal, Pintail, Oystercatcher, Grey Plover, Knot, Dunlin, Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew and Redshank.
