  2. Human Ingenuity Human Ingenuity is one of our Areas of Interaction in our IB school. It relates to the way humans think, create, and bring about change. This could have to do with inventions in science, math, music, art, literature; it could have to do with laws, governments or customs; or it could do with anything in the world that was caused by human thought, creation or actions. In this case we relate Human Ingenuity to when people (scientists) discovered some metals in the reactivity series.

  3. What I am investigating “Does a connection or relationship exist between the reactivity of a metal and when it was discovered?”

  4. The reactivity series The reactivity series is a series showing the most reactive metals to the least reactive.

  5. The metals that I will use in this investigation are, potassium, sodium, calcium andmagnesium.

  6. Potassium Name: Potassium Symbol: K Classification: Alkali Metals Atomic Number: 19 Protons & Electrons:19 Neutrons:20 Group in Periodic Table: 1 Discovered: 1807 Discovered By: Davy

  7. Sodium Name: Sodium Symbol: Na Classification: Alkali Metals Atomic Number: 11 Protons & Electrons:11 Neutrons:12 Group in Periodic Table: 1 Discovered: 1807 Discovered By: Davy

  8. Calcium Name: Calcium Symbol: Ca Classification: Alkaline Earth Metal Atomic Number: 20 Group in Periodic Table: 2 Protons & Electrons:20 Neutrons:20 Discovered: 1808 Discovered By: Davy

  9. Magnesium Name: Magnesium Symbol: Mg Classification: Alkaline Earth Metal Atomic Number: 12 Group in Periodic Table: 2 Protons & Electrons:12 Neutrons:12 Discovered: 1755 Discovered By: Black

  10. The Connection There is a connection between the datethat the metal was discovered in and where the metal lays in the Periodic Table. That connection is that where the metals are lain are very often were found at about the same time and by the same scientist.
