Improving Regional Capacity Through a State & District Coaching Network This session will provide a framework for district, region, and state leaders to provide ongoing coaching support for district and building coaches. Learn about the Midwest PBIS Network scope and sequence of coaches networking meetings, process for developing and delivering content, and the impact on fidelity of implementation and improved outcomes from participating districts.

Session Objectives • Discuss the structure used by Midwest PBIS Network to provide state-wide coaching, and how coaches then replicate the structure within their districts • Assess current coaching structures for fidelity and outcomes • Generate an action plan to improve your current coaching structure

Objectives of CNMs • To learn about updates, tools, and new messages directly from the Midwest PBIS Network in partnership with the National PBIS Technical Assistance Center. • To network with and learn from other PBIS Coaches across the state by sharing challenges and successes of implementing PBIS with fidelity. • To gain deeper knowledge and understanding of specific topic areas within a Multi-Tiered System of Support for Behavior with a focus on data, systems, and practices. • Model CNM process for District leaders to replicate with their school-based coaches

  34. Fidelity Summary Over Time for Harvard Schools • TI Fidelity on TFI for past four years among all five schools • TII & TIII growth towards fidelity on TFI over the past four years • All five schools consistently taking the TFI in each school year (that’s 100% of schools self-assessing!)

  35. Recognition Summary • All 5 schools in the district have been recognized • 3 recognized at the higher level • Higher recognition = improved fidelity and outcomes

Coaching Expectations EXTERNAL COACH • Attend quarterly PBIS External Coaches Network Meetings • Facilitate monthly internal coaches meetings • Regularly attend pre-meetings and/or building meetings for Tier 1 and Tier 2 in all 5 buildings. • Facilitate PBIS/ Classroom Management trainings for district staff • Attend 1 PBIS Institute per school year • Facilitate community training/ involvement • Reach out to neighboring districts • Facilitate TFI Walk-Thru/ Recognition process to ensure interventions are being implemented with fidelity • Share progress with stakeholders at board meetings, ALC meetings, etc. • Assist with evaluation of internal coaches • Facilitate to district level meetings INTERNAL COACH • Be a positive role model • Being observed modeling PBIS expectations for students & staff • Provide evidence of interventions with fidelity (TFI, TIPS, tracking tool) • Facilitate monthly team meetings within school building • Provide accurate, up-to-date data for problem-solving using SWIS • Attend monthly internal coaches meetings • Provide evidence of professional development (coaches forums, external coaches meetings, institutes) • Provide evidence of communication with staff, students, parents, building, community (teaching videos, Cool Tools, emails, sharing data) • Provide evidence of progress regarding implementation of interventions through improvement of TFI/ annual recognition results • Full-time attendance in building
