Introduction • e-Learning and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) are key priorities for education and training policy in Europe. • These new technologies can transform the traditional educational processes and they have the potential to revolutionize teaching and learning. • The Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) is designing and implementing a plan for the integration of ICT to the Educational System.

  4. AeL (Advanced eLearning) • AeL (Advanced eLearning) is a high-end Learning Management System, created by the Romanian company Siveco. • It combines a web-based user friendly interface with advanced functionality.

Digital Educational Content • The DEC has been developed for 17 subjects of Upper Secondary General and Technical and Vocational Education • The DEC has been developed by two contractors chosen through a European Tender (that was conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture). • The project is co-funded by the European Social Fund (50%) and by national resources (50%)

Digital Educational Content The DEC : • is attractive, interactive, multimedia-rich educational material • is tailor-made since it is aimed at meeting specific educational objectives of the Cyprus National Curriculum • consists of 13 types of Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) • exploits the affordances of the new technologies
