  5. Weather Scenario: Rainfall in mm • Cumulative monsoon in the state as on 30th August 2013 was in excess of 1.63 per cent over 2012. Therefore, normal crop production is expected from Kharif crops . • There is no major outbreak of disease and pest. • Prospects of Kharif Maize, pulses and Oil seeds seems to be promising.

STRATEGY FOR CROP MANAGEMENT FOR RABI, 2013-14 • Expansion of Area under summer Rice with a targeted additional production of 5,600 MT. • Expansion of Area under Rabi Maize with a targeted additional production of 1,500 MT. • Additional area coverage of 2,150 Hectares under Rabi Pulse and Oil seeds with increase production. • Strengthening Farmers Field school through NFSM-Rice and RKVY. • Promotion of Farm Mechanization through establishment of custom hiring center at three locations to ensure timely farm operations. • Conducting state wide campaign for seed treatment for Rabi crops. • Promotion and popularization of HYV seeds of Rice, Maize, Pulses and Oilseeds to achieve the desirable seed replacement.

STRATEGY FOR CROP MANAGEMENT FOR RABI, 2013-14 Seeds: • Seeds requirement of improved variety of paddy (CAU R-1), pulses (F.Pea - Arkel &Rajma- Arka Anup & Arka Kamal) and oil seeds (M-27) have been finalized and procurement of seeds is under process. INM: • The total Fertilizer requirement for Rabi, 2013 (Urea-1000 MT, DAP-500 MT, MOP-500 MT and SSP-800 MT) has been approved by the Govt. of India. • Bio-fertilizers like Rhizobium, Azatobacter, Phosphorous Solubilizing Microbes etc. will be promoted as a component of INM to ensure balance and integrated use of fertilizer. • Slaked Lime will be distributed to Farmers at subsidized rate to improve crop productivity. IPM: • Integrated Pest Management will be popularized through adoption of Bio-control agents like Trichoderma, Pseudomonas and Trichograma.

  10. ISSUES OF CONCERN • Low productivity: Rice productivity per Ha. (2012-13) is 1460 kg per Ha. which is well below the National average of 2240 kg. per Ha. • Small & Marginal land holding: Average land holding is only 0.50 Ha against National average of 1.33 hectare. • Low consumption of Fertilizer: Average fertilizer consumption is only 78.50 kg. per Ha. against National average of 129 kg. per hectare. • Negligible application of Micronutrients as only 3.20 % of gross cropped area is covered with Micronutrients. • Availability of Farm power is only 0.75 Kw. Per Ha against national average of 1.20 Kw per Ha. • Lack of proper farm Road connectivity is one of the major constraint for the development of Agriculture.

  14. Progress of Oil Palm Mill • For Establishment of Oil Palm Mill, Govt. of India has sanctioned Assistance amounting to Rs. 750.00 lakh @ Rs. 250.00 lakh per Mill.

  15. Recent Development for Establishment of Oil Palm Seed Garden : Selected Site :Chuanchung ram, West Serzawl, Mamit District. (Three Sr. Scientist from DOPR visited two proposed sites during 30th May to 3rd June,2013) Area : 50 Ha. Approach road for : 3.5 Km Construction Project Amount : Rs.536.53 lakh. Funding source : ICAR through Directorate of Oil Palm Research.
