  1. Your“Not So Average”Piano Teacher By: Jessi S.

  2. What do you picture when you hear the words ‘piano teacher? You probably think of old ladies with metronomes and rulers that will smack you on the hand if you don’t play the notes right. Well not Melisa! Melisa Klei is the most fun-loving piano teacher ever! I mean, how many teachers are 21, have their ear pierced in their cartilage, and change their hair color about once a month.

  3. Melisa has attended Woodfill Elementary, Highlands Middle School, Highlands High School, and is currently a senior at NKU.

  4. She has had a very musical background. Melisa sang in chorus when she was in Middle School and High School. Her accompanist was Rick, who is the Middle School chorus’ accompanist still today.

  5. l She grew up listening to radio stations such as. Warm 98, Mix 94.1, and Oldies 103.5, but only because of her parents. She really like Journey because of how good the piano is in their songs. Some new age bands and singers that Melisa likes are Collective Soul, John Mayer, and David Gray. She’s not too picky about music, but she doesn’t like country, or “country twang” as she puts it.

  6. Melisa has really enjoyed these past 6 years of teaching and being able to share her talents with others, mainly students younger than her, between the ages of 5 and 16. She says it’s an amazing thing to say that you’ve taught someone everything they know in a certain subject. It’s made her a better performer and pianist in watching and teaching others how to practice. I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to work with Melisa!
