THE WITNESS OF THE PROPHETS The people of God brought this on themselves Israelites tried to save themselves with military alliances (stopped depending on God) Addressing people from the perspective of the Northern or Southern Kingdoms God’s purpose is not to destroy but to purify and redeem Amos 9:8, 13-15 Ezekiel 5:8-10

  4. THE WITNESS OF THE PROPHETS Though the people are in exile and the Temple is destroyed, God is not dead. There’s a glimmer of hope. Ezekiel 48:35b
