  4. Now you should have at least 5 credits… • Math • English • Social Studies • Science • PE/Health (0.5 credits each) • There may also be a recommendation for: • Spanish II • French II • Reading/English/Math Support

  5. But you need a total of 7 credits…Here are some options… • World Language • Spanish • French • German • Other… (BE SURE TO INCLUDE ALTERNATE CHOICE) • Fine Art • Art 1: Foundations of Studio Art • Dance 1 • Band/Choir/String Orch…etc. • Theatre Arts • Technology Education • Foundations of Technology • Computer Science I If you are in Band, Chorus, or Orchestra and want to continue in HS, go to page 94 and choose one of those courses for your Fine Arts credit.

  6. For World Language students… • If you took French or Spanish in middle school, you should already see a recommendation on your form for the 2nd level of that language for your 9th grade year (Spanish II, French II). If you do not see that recommendation, raise your hand. • If you did not take French or Spanish in middle school, you will sign up for the 1st level of French, Spanish, or another language you may be interested in. • If you sign up for a language other than French, Spanish, or German, please provide one of these as an alternate course option on your form.

  8. Picking Alternate Courses • Just because you sign up for a class does not GUARANTEE you will get in (electives, world language)

  9. Program Choice • 2-year/4-year college or university WORLD LANGUAGE • Technical/Vocational school ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY • Career Academy CAREER & TECHNOLOGY COMPLETER

  10. Your parent has the final say! • If your parent/guardian disagrees with a recommendation from a teacher, this is the form they fill out (on the BACK). • Review your form with your parent. If they do not agree with what you have chosen, they can erase and write in something else (on the FRONT).

  11. Forms are due to the counseling center NO LATER THAN… NEXT FRIDAY, JANUARY 25TH Write this date on the bottom of your form. These forms CANNOT be late.

  12. What’s next? • Take this form home & show to parent/guardian. • If parent/guardian approves, have them fill out the bottom portion of the form. • If the parent/guardian does not approve, have them fill out the reverse side of the form and sign. • RETURN TO THE COUNSELING CENTER THE NEXT DAY. Do NOT give to your teachers. Do NOT give to the front office. • Do awesome for the next 5 months of 8th grade and prepare for the awesome new beginning of your high school years!
