Electronic Form 48 Instructions Planned Academic Program • What You Need • Rules • How to fill out the Electronic Form 48 Fall 2013
What You Need • Electronic AF Form 48 (Det Website) http://afrotc.tamu.edu Current Cadets Resources Holm Center Forms/IMTs • TAMU Undergraduate Course Catalog http://catalog.tamu.edu/ • The list of Aerospace Science classes (slide 8) • A list of any credit you have previously obtained to include AP, CLEP, Community College, or other institution transfer credits
Rules • Include ALL 4 years of AERS classes • Include ALL the classes you need to obtain your degree • Include a summer block for EVERY summerEVEN IF THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES TAKEN • Project a realisticplan for completion of your degree (i.e. any more than 15 hours per semester is most likely NOT realistic) - IF IN DOUBT, SEE YOUR INSTRUCTOR!!!
How to fill out an E-Form 48 • On your computer, fill out Blocks 1, 3 and 5 on the FIRST page of the form
E-Form 48 – Labeling Terms • Fill in your name at the top of each sheet • Fill in TERM blocks sequentially: Fall, Spring THEN Summer (ALL SUMMERS) & YEAR above each semester block in sequential order
E-Form 48 – AERS Classes • Fill in the Course Number (AERS###), Course Title and Credit hours (1 or 3) for all Aerospace Science classes in the appropriate term/year even if you do not desire a commission • Enter the words “FIELD TRAINING” in the summer between your sophomore and junior year • IF you will take more than 4 years to graduate, you WILL NOT take any more classroom classes, but WILL still participate in Lead Lab (AERS 105/106 for Fall/Spring terms) during your 5th year
Continue with AERS Classes until your projected graduation date. Remember that if you go beyond 4 years, you will still take Leadership Lab (AERS105-Fall, AERS106-Spring)
E-Form 48 – ID’ing Credit • From your TAMU Undergraduate Course Catalog, find the section that tells you what classes you need to take to complete your degree • Make a list of previously obtained credit, determine which courses you will NOThave to take and notate that beside the course • AERS Upper-Level course credit:for most majors, AERS 303, 304, 403 & 404 count for HIST 105 OR HIST 106 PLUS POLS 206 OR POLS 207 (1 of each, 6 credits total) - Page 26 in 2013-2014 Catalog • Include these credits in your plan. Some departments count these classes towards other electives as well. • If you brought in both History or both POLS classes, your AERS classes could count for additional electives/Core classes – ASK YOUR ADVISOR

E-Form 48 –Planning Classes • Map out in your course catalog degree plan what classes you would like to take in which semester IMPORTANT things to consider: • Some classes have prerequisites, make sure you DO NOT schedule a class before its prerequisites • If you struggle with a subject, DO NOT load your semester with classes in that subject • You don’t HAVE to follow the suggested plan, put your career together in a way that is best for you • DO NOT be unrealistic…more than 15 hours in any semester could be setting yourself up for failure • You DO NOT have to choose exact classes for upper level electives; entering “Technical Elective” and credit is acceptable
