Subjunctive with the Unknown. Does it exist?. In English. We use the indicative to talk about people or things that may not exist, but in Spanish we use the subjunctive . I am looking for a stamp that is very valuable. Busco un sello que sea muy valioso .

  3. Buscar, necesitar, querer + que • Use these verbs with the subjunctive to introduce something that is now known for certain. • Buscar-to search/look for • Querer-to want • Necesitar-to need

  4. Here’s how • Use the indicative of the first verb (buscar, querer, necesitar ) • Add que • Use the subjunctive of the second verb • Quierounacomputadoraportátilque no cueste mucho • I want a laptop that doesn’t cost much.

  5. Use the subjunctive with • ¿Hay ______ que_______? (Is/are there?) • ¿Conoces _____que____? (Do you know?) • ¿Tienes________que ____? (Do you have?) • To ask about something that may not exist

  6. For example • ¿Tienes un teléfonoquetoquemúsica? • Do you have a telephone that plays music? • Hayalguien en la clasequetenga un perro negro? • Is there someone in the class who has a black dog?

  7. To say something may not or definitely does not exist • The subjunctive is used in a similar way when these expressions are used to say that something may not or definitely does not exist. • No hay…….que…….. • No conozco…….que……… • No tengo………que………

  8. For example • Notengoun teléfonoquetoquemúsica. • I don’t have a telephone that plays music. • No hay nadie en la clasequetenga un perro negro. • There is no one in class that has a black dog

  9. To talk about things that definitely do exist • Use the indicative to talk about things that definitely do exist. • Tengo un teléfonoquetocamúsica • I have a phone that plays music • Hayalguien en la clasequetiene un perro negro. • There is someone in class that has a black dog.

  10. Complete the sentences with correct form of the verb • Busco un novioque _______ (cantar) bien. • ¿Hay unacomputadoraque no _____ (costar o-ue) mucho? • Necesito un cocheque ____(ser) rápido. • No conozco a nadieque _______(hablar) francés. • Hay un sitio web que ______(tener) la información.
