  1. Know Your enemy Phil Burress, the CCV, and Right-Wing NutJobs

  2. If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected. Sun Tzu, The Art of War

  3. Enemy Number one:Phil Burress and the CCV

  4. Who does the ccv say that they are? • The Citizens for Community Values is a Cincinnati, Ohio-based 501(C)(3) non-profit, family values organization. • Mission: Citizens for Community Values (CCV) exists to promote Judeo-Christian moral values, and to reduce destructive behaviors contrary to those values, through education, active community partnership, and individual empowerment at the local, state and national levels. • Vision: CCV is a grassroots organization of citizens who are concerned for the well-being of the community, the strength of its families, and the future of its children. We strive to be a leader in the restoration of those Judeo-Christian moral values upon which this country was founded in hopes of leaving a lasting legacy of citizens endeavoring to foster and maintain healthy, wholesome, safe, and happy communities. • CCV equips concerned, values-driven citizens with the tools they need to effectively exercise their First Amendment, free-speech rights to reverse this destructive trend and to fortify that foundation. • www.ccv.org/about-us/

  5. Who is the CCV really? • CCV President and family values advocate Phil Burress is on marriage number three to current wife Vickie, who he met at an anti-pornography convention. • Phil Burress is a reformed “pornography addict” who spent 25 years watching porn in secret. • Phil makes Vickie watch porn and summarize it for him so he is not tempted to relapse. • Phil accepts large contributions from the business community and religious organizations and uses that money to lobby politicians through its political arm, CCV Action.

  6. What Does the CCV do? • They oppose sexually oriented businesses. "Just because it is legal to operate a sex business doesn't mean we have to accept it. You have to be proactive. If not, then sexually dysfunctional males and the sexually addicted will frequent these places.” – Phil Burress, CCV President

  7. Real Men who frequent sob’s

  8. What does the ccv do? • They draft statutes and ordinances for local and state-level politicians to introduce. Example: Cincinnati’s sexually oriented business ordinance • They develop family values rhetoric that both hides their agenda and makes it hard to oppose. “After drug dealing, human trafficking is the second largest criminal industry worldwide reaching $32 billion annually! Who is trafficked? Men, women, and children Educated or illiterate U.S. citizen or foreign-born Cuts across ethnicity, gender, class, and most other demographics. Basically…ANYONE!”

  9. What does the ccv do? • They oppose same-sex relationships. “Homosexual activists have taken center stage in downtown Cincinnati’s July 4 celebration. We think its not right for them to invade the Fourth of July, and we’re trying to warn people that if they do go downtown they may be exposed to some deviant behavior, everything from sex in the streets to lesbian topless women.”

  10. The actual pride parade

  11. They train political candidates to vote their way.

I've got news for you: the Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint! Dude: Walter, this isn't a First Amendment thing. Waitress: Sir, if you don't calm down I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Walter: Lady, I got buddies who died face-down in the muck so you and I could enjoy this family restaurant! Dude: All right, I'm leaving. I'm sorry ma'am. Walter: Don't run away from this, Dude! Goddamnit, this affects all of us!... Our basic freedoms!... I'm staying. Finishing my coffee...
