  1. How Navcom is Using Q4000 for Helicopter Visibility Helicopter accidents in the United States have increased since 2016. After the tragic accident recently, that took the young lives of professional athlete Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna which left the world in shock. Overall, the number of helicopter crashes worldwide has decreased. Statistics released by International Helicopter Safety Team and the United States Helicopter Safety team show there were one hundred and twenty-one accidents in 2017 alone, twenty of which were fatal. This resulted in thirty-four fatalities. Countries around the world are struggling with helicopter accidents, according to data that was gathered from forty-nine countries. This included the United States. This showed a total of two hundred and thirty-nine accidents in 2017 with forty-four of them being fatal. In 2016, there were two hundred and fifty-five accidents with fifty-three of them being fatal. The number around the world is dropping. Countries affected include the EU, Russia, Mexico, Canada, India, New Zealand and Brazil. Navcom has adopted the Q4000 from Quake Global to improve helicopter visibility using satellite location technology. Navcom, in partnership with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), is using Q4000 in their research and development in order to improve technology when it comes to disaster recovery. It’s not uncommon for a number of helicopters to be flying in a densely populated airspace at any given time. Navcom has a map system which enables real time location information on a helicopter including providing information on the disaster with the team on the ground. This enables everyone to operate efficiently. It helps to decrease workload and improve fuel efficiency while improving security. The Q4000 is a small lightweight satellite location system. The system that

  2. was developed by JAXA and Navcom will communicate location information and any relevant information, while Q4000 offers two way communication. The Q4000 embraces LTE and satellite technology offering a stand-alone communication solution that can be trusted to provide real time accurate data without any disruptions. This dual mode communications modem meets all the technical requirements offering a range of customizable options with build in data compression, as an added convenience to speed up tracking and reduce costs. This dual mode modem offers a network for global use and is J1455 compliant. The modem is being used by numerous industries around the world, helping them track and locate assets anywhere in the world. The Q4000 with its dual modem is able to track in the remotest of areas, land or sea, which is why it was leading choice for Navcom for their helicopter visibility research. The Q4000 offers flexibility and durability with amazing accuracy and multiple inputs and outputs, including digital GPIO, analog, and GPS. Cellular options include 2G, 3G, LTE with satellite options including GPS, Iridium and ORBCOMM. Navcom has seen great benefits in choosing the Q4000 for their helicopter visibility as the concern regarding the increase in helicopter accidents across the United States rises, while the rest of the world sees an obvious decline over a two years period. The system offers real-time monitoring, track history, performance assessment and analysis, all in one system that is cost- effective with low-cost savings and flat-rate pricing.
