  1. pteonlinereview@jroozreview.com | info@pteacademic.com.ph Top Tips for Read Aloud Tasks in PTE Speaking Read aloud is the second task type of the PTE speaking exam. Here’s how it works. • The page has three parts: the instructions at the top, an audio recorder in the middle, and a text below it. • You must read the text aloud 30–40 seconds after you enter the page. The length depends on how long the text is. The audio recorder will keep you posted with a countdown. You can only record once. • Your score in this section is based on three criteria: content, oral fluency, and pronunciation. Set yourself up for PTE success. Prepare with an excellent PTE course and practice the following tips to supercharge your performance in the speaking exam’s read aloud section.

  2. 1. Know how the section works. Once the countdown ends, you’ll hear a short tone. Start talking as soon as it ends. Pace yourself. Pause at all the right punctuations. But, don’t stop talking for more than three seconds. The recording will automatically stop if you do so.The audio recorder has a progress bar at the bottom. Make sure you’re done reading the entire text before it reaches the end. Keep these in mind during your PTE training. 2. Maximize the preparation time. Scan the text. Determine the parts that you need to stress and the syllables you need to emphasize. If there are words that you think you’d have difficulty pronouncing, practice enunciating it during your prep time. 3. Pay attention to the punctuations. The best way to determine the tone and pacing of a passage is to pay attention to its punctuations. Here’s why. Punctuations signal pauses and intonation changes. Those located near the beginning of a sentence usually indicate a rise in intonation. Those located near or at the end of a sentence, meanwhile, typically signal a fall in intonation. Remember these during your PTE course speaking exercises. 4. Cater to the scoring criteria. As mentioned before, your performance is graded based on its content, oral fluency, and pronunciation. Here’s how each one is scored. • • Content– Were you able to read the entire text out loud? Oral fluency– Was your response smooth, effortless, evenly paced? • Pronunciation–Were you able to deliver a response that’s free of mispronunciations? Here are some tips that’ll help you tailor your response to these criteria. • • • Don’t hesitate. Avoid committing false starts. Avoid repeating any part of the text. • • • • Don’t omit or alter any part of the text. Take note of punctuations. Pace yourself. Focus on speaking clearly. Don’t limit your PTE training efforts to your review program. Hone your test approaches. Develop strategies for the exam’s task types that cater to your linguistic strengths without disregarding your weaknesses. Searching for a PTE review course that can help you guarantee success?
