# EuropeHome Project

The EuropeHome project aims to create Local Hubs in each university involved to foster cooperation between the university and collaborating private companies. Local Hubs organize placements, events, and create a database of collaborating companies.

  2. #EuropeHome - Local Hubs • Whatis a Local Hub? • The#EH projectproposesthecreation of a local group in eachuniversity of theproject, named “Local Hub”, in order to fosteran intense cooperationbetweentheuniversity and a group of collaboratingprivatecompanies. • Each Local Hubiscomposedtypicallyby • 3 coordinators: oneLocal Hub Leader, • and oneacademiccoordinator in eachFaculty • involved in theproject (Economics&Business and • alsoEngineering). • In additionthereisthegroup of local privatecompanies and thecontactpersons in theIRO (International Relations Office) and in thePlacement Office of theuniversity.

  3. #EuropeHome – Local HubActivities • Mainactivities of the Local Hubs: • Organization of placements in privatecompaniesforincoming Erasmus students in theFaculty of Engineering and theFaculty of Economics&Business. • Organization of placementsalsofor local studentsthatwillwork in tandemswiththeinternationalstudents (whenpossible). • Organization of severaleventseveryyearwithcompanies, students and teachers, such as presentation of companies and others. • Collection of proposalsfromthecompaniesfordevelopment of specific tasks (typically via final Thesis). • Creation of anincreasingdatabase of collaboratingcompanies.

  4. #EuropeHome – Local HubActivities • Local Hub activities – someexamples in UAH • Erasmus meetings in mid November: Information meetings in each Faculty for Erasmus+ outgoing students where the #europehomeproject was presented to a numerous group of students. • Open days in some Companies during the year, inviting students to visit the company and take part in several activities. • Presentation of big-size, mid-size and small-sizecompanies in theFaculty of Economics and Faculty of Engineeringseveral times per year.

  6. #EuropeHome – Local HubActivities • Local Hub activities – someexamples in TUL (Lodz) • Meetings with students organized once a month informing about the work placements. The students are also informed about the companies offering real tasks that can be solved in first and second cycle thesis. • Academic Job Fairorganizedjointlywith • Career Office. 120 exhibitors and 3500 • studentsvisitingthefair. All#europehome • collaboratingcompanieswerepresent. • Party ”Chance of Success”: Meeting withalumniwhohaveachievedsuccess in theirwork. About 500 studentswerepresent, lots of questions fromthem.

  7. #EuropeHome - Placementsin companies Organization of #EH placements in Alcalá: Appointment of theLocal Hub Leader and histeam of academiccoordinators. Creation of thehub of companiesthat are able to offerinternships to international studentsspeaking in English. Informationthroughthe IRO to allpartneruniversitiesaboutplacementpossibility in Economics&Businessareaand Engineeringareaforincoming Erasmus students, so thatthey can promoteit to theiroutgoingstudents. Placements can be done part-timewhilestudying, orfull-timeafterthe final exams.

  8. #EuropeHome - Placements in companies • Organization of #EH placements in UAH: • 5. Whenthe IRO produces thelists of acceptedincoming Erasmus+ students in bothFaculties, they are communicated to the Local Hub Leader, and this informes to allthestudentsby email abouttheplacementpossibilities. • Theinterestedstudentspresent CV, current grades and motivationletter, and thisinformationisdelivered to thecompanies. • Companies decidewhichstudents are acceptable and informthe Local Hub Leader. Thenthiswillinformthestudentsimmediatellyforthem to startthecontactswiththecompanies. • Thestudentsselectedforplacement are allowed to adapt and modifytheirLearningAgreementifnecessary.

  9. #EuropeHome - Placements in companies Organization of #EH placements in UAH: When a companyacceptsaninternationalstudent, the Local Hub Leader willproposealso to receive a second local tandemstudent, and ifaccepted, willfindonewiththehelp of thePlacement Office. Foreveryplacementorganised, the Local Hub Leader informsthePlacement Office of theuniversity, in order to signtherequiredInternshipAgreementwiththecompany. Ifthecompanyoffersa salary to theinternationalstudent (optional), thenthestudentisinformedaboutthe extra officialdocumentsthatmust be obtained and thedetailedprocedurehow to obtainthem. The final evaluation and recognition of theinternshipfortheinternationalstudent can be madebythe host universityorbythe home university, ornotmade at allifthestudentdoesnotneedit.

  10. #EuropeHome - Placementsin companies • Another solution of placements in Lodz: • TUL (Technical University of Lodz) has severalstudyprogrammes in Engineeringareawhere a part-time placementiscompulsory in thelastyear of studies, and TUL organizestheinternships in teams of 4-5 studentsworkingtogether in thecompany. • Whentheprofile of theincominginternationalstudentisadequate, itiseasytoincludehim/her in one of thoseteams, this waygaining anexcellentexperience in teamworkwithinternationalcolleagues. • In this case thetandem idea of #EH projectis • convertedinto a teamidea.

  11. #EuropeHome - Placements in companies • Another solution of placements in Nice(#empl-oiproject): • UNICEwill try the idea of «switch of students»: • Onebyone, Erasmus and local studentswill • carryout a mission in a specificcompanyfor a • period of time (about 2 months) and thenwill • gotoanothercompanytocarryoutanother • mission (for 2 months as well). • In thisway, severaltraineeswouldhaveworkedonthesamemissionsbutnot at thesame time. Theywillmeet and helpeachotherexchanginginformationaboutthemissiontheyworkedon. • Fromthecompanyside, theystillhave a studentforthemissionfor a 4 monthperiod in total, and fromthestudentside, itisanaddedvaluesince he discoversdifferentcompanies and activities.

  12. #EuropeHome - Results • Final results of the Local Hubactivities: • During 2015/16a firstgroup of 27 Erasmus studentswereexchangedbetweenthe 5 universities of theproject, fromwhich7realizedtheirplacement in a company(rate: 26%) • During 2016/17a secondgroup of 36 Erasmus studentswereexchangedbetween #EH partners, fromwhich3realizedtheirplacement(, rate: 8%) • TOTAL RATE in bothyears: around16% of #EH exchanged Erasmus studentsaccepted to jointhe #EH placementprogramme.

  13. #EuropeHome - Results • Final results of the Local Hubactivities (II): • Severalof thesestudentshave done theirinternshipstogetherwith a local tandemstudentor in teamswith local students. • Currentlythere are 63 collaboratingcompanies in thepartneruniversities of theproject, prepared to receiveforeignstudents. • Theorganization of specialeventswithcompaniesand studentspromotedfromthe #EH project has beensuccessfulin UAH and TUL.

  14. #EuropeHome – Sustainability Plan • Howwe can maintaintheprojectactivities: • Wehave appointed new Local Hubleaders (ifnecessary) and continuetheplacementprogramme, notonlywiththe 5 #europehomepartners, butalsowiththe 4 extra partners in #empl-oiproject. • Weintend to continuetheplacementprogrammealsowithalltherest of EUF partneruniversitiesthathavestudies in Business&EconomicsorEngineering&Computing, as well as withany Erasmus+ partneruniversity. • Wemustmaintainourvaluablecontacts in the IRO and in thePlacement Office of theuniversity, so thatourplacementprogramme can continuerunningsmoothly.

  15. #EuropeHome – Sustainability Plan • Howwe can maintaintheprojectactivities (II): • Wewillmaintainthecontactswiththe#europehomepartnercompanies and offerthemyearlycollaborationproposals, such as presentationstowardsthe final yearstudents and ouracademics. • Weintend tocontinueourefforts in thecollection of proposalsfromthecompaniesfordevelopment of practicaltasksbyour local students. • We can make use of thee-modules developedbytheproject, in severalof our regular courses.
