  1. Five Key Findings: Foolproof Computerized Examination By Prometric – Leading Global Provider of Computerized Exams

  2. Findings Will Transform Computerised Tests Tests are conducted in order to assess an individual’s knowledge and ability. While the relevance and importance of a test has remained constantly high, its method has evolved greatly. From decades of writing answers on paper, we have now entered the digital age with computerized testing. Fool-proofing testing methods are crucial but not easy. Loopholes are there, and computerized testing is not immune to them. To make computerized tests reliable and secure, Prometric conducted a research study which brought five key findings to the surface.

  3. Key Finding #1 – Set Up and Security • The network of test workstations should have no connection with the existing network of the rental facility. • The network of test workstations can be further protected by installing proxy servers. • Only licensed operating systems should be installed along with anti-virus software.

  4. Key Finding #2 – Staff and Security • Dependence on staff arranged by rental sites should be minimal. • Processing of test results should be done by trustworthy staff – preferably based outside the country in which the tests are being delivered. • Test delivery providers must ensure an effective ratio of 1:10 between proctors and test takers.

  5. Key Finding #3 – Process and Security • Test takers should be inspected before they enter the testing lab and also when they depart. • Fixed cameras should be installed inside the testing lab to minimize the possibility of malfeasance. • To prevent “blacklisted” test takers from entering the lab, biometric data of listed test takers should be captured.

  6. Key Finding #4 – Test Taker Convenience • Multiple sessions of tests should be arranged for test takers who are unable to reach the test center on time due to inconveniences caused by weather or public action.

  7. Key Finding #5 – Valid, Reliable and Fair Tests The test should meet market requirements, legal standards and design objectives. For this to happen, a psychometric analysis should be done for all test items. Disclosure of examination content should be prevented at all costs – with delivery of fully encrypted test items helping to mitigate any risks.

  8. It Matters With high-stakes examinations having the potential to change the lives of all test takers, an infallible delivery and consistent testing environment provide an even platform for everyone. Prometric understands this better than most!
