TREx Vendor Training

This is the agenda for the TREx Vendor Training in April 2015. It includes information about new data elements and enhancements in version 4.2, revised definitions, and new assessment codes. It also provides information about the release of version 4.2 in July 2015 and additional data elements for support of the HB5 Foundation High School Program requirements.

  4. TREx 4.2 • Planned Release July 2015 • Additional Data Elements for support of the HB5 Foundation High School Program requirements. • 4.2 Data Standards will bepublished to the TREx website at; http://tea.texas.gov/index4.aspx?id=25769817556 • Fully backwardly compatible with v 4.1.

  5. TREx v 4.1.1 – New Data Elements • The Performance Acknowledgement Met Date data element definition was missing in the initial rollout of TREx documentation Data Element definitions section. It was included in the XSD definition. This element is required for each Performance Acknowledgement included in an uploaded file.

TREx v 4.2 – Approved Special Explanation Codes • Revised Definition • L - A local-credit course taken for local credit only.  (Note:  Local credit is not counted toward state graduation requirements unless the course is required by an ARD Committee for students receiving special education services who entered grade nine prior to the 2011-2012 school year.)

TREx v 4.2 – Approved Special Explanation Codes • New Codes • 6 - A course for which credit is awarded based on the student’s demonstrated proficiency in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for the course. • 7 - A TEKS -based course with 100 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per five-day school week taken to satisfy the physical education requirement on the Foundation High School Program as provided in §74.12(b)(6)(B). The course may not satisfy another graduation requirement in addition to the physical education requirement.

TREx v 4.2 – Approved Special Explanation Codes • New Codes • 8 - A course taken to satisfy the languages other than English (LOTE) requirement on the Foundation High School Program under exceptions provided in §74.12(b)(5)(B) or (D). • 9 - A course from Chapter 110, 113, 114, or 117 taken by a student with written permission from the student’s parent/guardian to satisfy the fourth science requirement for the Arts and Humanities endorsement on the Foundation High School Program under §74.13(e)(5)(EE). A student who does not complete the fourth science credit requirement for an endorsement under §74.13(e)(5)(EE) is not eligible to earn the distinguished level of achievement.

TREx v 4.2 – Approved Special Explanation Codes • New Codes • LD - A locally-developed courses created and provided through a district program under which the district partners with a public or private institution of higher education and local business, labor, and community leaders, pursuant to TEC §28.002 (g-1). Locally-developed courses are eligible for state credit toward graduation on to the Foundation High School Program only and must be reported using the alpha-numeric codes in the C022 beginning with the letters “LD”. • CP - A college preparatory course developed and provided by a district in partnership with at least one institution of higher education. Pursuant to TEC §28.014, College preparatory courses are eligible for state credit toward graduation on to the Foundation High School Program only and must be reported using the alpha-numeric codes in the C022 beginning with the letters “CP”.
