  1. Adam Becker Chris Wastchak Hernando Cortes

  2. Born in 1485, Hernando Cortes was a Spanish explorer who was best known for his conquests through Mexico and Defeating the Aztec Empire. He was a bright boy who studied law, but like other men at this time they sought the rewards and glory that exploring brought them and decided to give everything up to become a famous explorer. He began his explorations at the young age of just 19. Who

  3. Hernando Cortex went exploring for the same reason that everyone else was exploring at this time, the 3 G’s gold, glory, god. With the new world discovered by Christopher Columbus, there was much to still be found within the new world, and that’s where Hernando went exploring. With exploring, everyone had the same common goal, gold, which is why Hernando set sail for the new world. Why

  4. Hernando Set sail for the new world, where his journey began starting in 1504 from Portugal heading for the coast of Cuba. He chose to set sail to there because it was mainly new and unexplored territory which he wanted to claim for himself. The Route

  5. While on his explorations, he joined up with Diego Velazquez de Cuellar to conquer Cuba. Their Mission was successful, and ended up controlling Cuba. Also Cortes explored the deeper heart of present day Mexico in 1518. On that exploration he brought many troops with him and ended up battling with the Mayans in Tabasco. He continued on and took over the city of Veracruz, and further more he traveled to Cholula and killed thousands and burned the city down. What He Found

  6. His explorations were a huge part in history, because while he was traveling around and discovering and conquering new territories, Cortes conquered the city of Tenochtitlan, and took their leader hostage. This battle was a huge point in history, and it marked the ending of the Aztec Empire. The land they took over was then claimed by the country of Spain. Impact Of His Explorations

  7. On his trip to the new world, he was not the commander of a fleet, instead he was a passenger under the command of Alonso Quintero. The Hispaniola Governor, Diego Velázquez financed and backed Cortes once he had reached the new world. He was given an assortment of things like, land grants, money, lavish clothing, slaves, and powerful titles as the captain general of a fleet that later conquered the Aztecs. Financing

  8. On his trip to the new world, Cortes took with his only what he would need to start a new life. Once he got to the new world, he already had known the governor of Hispaniola Diego Velázquez and the governor had given the title as captain general and on is exploration he took over 500 troops, 11 horses, and 15 cannons, as well as picking up more troops as his explorations continued. With all of this, it made his exploration a very easy one because he was able to wipe out everything in his path with all of his firepower backing him. What He Took

  9. His explorations were important because it brought about then end of the Aztec Empire and it also brought about a deeper discovery of the new world, primarily what we know as modern day Mexico. His explorations really brought out more as to what was happening in our new world, and it with the end of one civilization, it allowed for new beginnings. Why The Exploration Was Important
