  1. The Faithfulness of NoahPastor Mark Schwarzbauer PhDFamily Worship Center

  2. Genesis 6:5-8 5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

  3. Part One: The Faithfulness of Noah

  4. What God said about Noah… • Found grace in the midst of absolute corruption. Gen. 6:5-8 • Noah was a just man… Gen. 6:9 • Perfect in his generations… Gen. 6:9 • Noah walked with God. Gen. 6:9

  5. What God said about Noah… E. Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, Gen 6:22 F. Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. Gen 7:1

  6. Noah was a man of faith Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”

  7. Noah was a man of faith Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”

  8. Part Two: The Unfaithfulness of Mankind

  9. Some would claim God was being wicked in destroying man In Reality… Mankind destroyed itself BEFORE God’s judgment.

  10. Genesis 6:5-8 5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

  11. Sons of God married Daughters of Man… Gen. 6:2 A. Godly line of Seth compromised with ungodly spouses. B. This reflects both godly men and women marrying outside of faith. C. Many instances where unequally yoked destroyed people’s lives. IE. Solomon’s wives turned his heart from God and Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 6.

  12. Faithfulness must be protected to protect you

  13. Part Three: The Faithfulness of God

  14. Part Four: The Unfaithfulness of Noah

  15. The Unfaithfulness of Noah • Noah found grace, but Noah was not sinless. He messed up too! • Drinking and cursing of Hamm Gen. 9:20-28. • People blame Hamm… but it was Noah who got drunk. • Notice with all the amazing things God said about Noah before this incident, in Genesis there was no praise for Noah afterwards.

  16. The Unfaithfulness of Noah • Noah saved his family in the ark and wrecked his family with alcohol. • Lesson: Don’t let alcohol destroy your legacy and wreck life for future generations. • Bible is so truthful it doesn’t gloss over the faults and sins of its characters. • We can learn from both his faithfulness and his mistakes.
