Senior Class Expectations Welcome, Class of 2011!
What do we expect from oursenior class? Follow all DVCA’s Non- Negotiables & Campus policies and procedures Attend classes on a regular and consistent basis Be on time for school and all classes everyday Behave yourselves Pass and excel in all your classes Be a role model for your underclassmen Resolve your conflicts peacefully
Non-Negotiables • All DVCA students will arrive to school and class fully prepared, ready to learn, and with a positive “can do” attitude. • All DVCA students are to look to resolve conflicts peacefully and productively to bring about a positive end result. • All DVCA students will wear appropriate attire at all times, includes the following: • Shirts or polos – unaltered and without writing on it • Jeans, pants, or skirts – appropriate color (appropriate length or NO leggings). Pajama pants are not permitted • Appropriate outerwear shoes – no slippers or flip-flops • Jackets or outwear are not permitted • Hats and/or headgear is not permitted • No clothing affiliated with gang activity and/or otherwise items are permitted • All DVCA students must wear their ID’s on lanyard around their necks. • All DVCA students are to follow the DVCA electronics policy which states that all electronics such as, but not limited to, cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, and headphones are not to be worn or visible while the student is in school. • All DVCA students will have a school pass while in the hallways. Students are not to receive passes within the first 15 minutes of class. No passes will be issued during 8th period. • All DVCA students are expected to arrive to school, as well as all classes, on time. The DVCA tardy policy will be strictly enforced by all teachers.
Wait…There’s more? • Electronics • All DVCA students are to follow the DVCA electronics policy which states that all electronics such as, but not limited to, cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, and headphones are not to be worn or visible while the student is in school.
In addition… • Good Academic Standing is required • Students must be passing all courses at the quarter and semester in order to participate in Senior activities • At-risk students must work with their advisor and content teacher to create a plan for academic success and/or are in night school to remediate courses • Students that are not actively on track to graduate in June or August 2010 will not be allowed to participate in Senior activities
Post Secondary Plans • All seniors must complete their FAFSA • All seniors must complete 3 college applications • All seniors must fill out 2 scholarships • All seniors must participate in creating their own post secondary plan
So what do we get? Participating in graduation events is a privilege! • Senior Picnic • Senior Trip • Senior Luncheon • Senior Prom • Graduation
The fastest way to lose your privileges… • Lower than an 80% tardy rate each quarter for all classes, including 1st period • Loss of Senior Picnic, then senior luncheon, then senior prom, etc…. • Mandatory Parent/Guardian-Student-Dean-Administration Conference each quarter that the mandatory tardy rate is not met
Another way to lose your privileges… • 10-14 unexcused absences OR two (2) suspensions in Group 3-6 • Loss of Senior Picnic • Mandatory Parent/Guardian-Student-Dean Conference • Everybody MAY GET a second chance…
You better check yourself… • 15 - 20 unexcused absences OR three (3) Suspensions in Groups 4-6 • You’ve already lost the picnic…now what? • Loss of Senior Luncheon • Mandatory Parent/Guardian, Student, Dean, Administrator Conference • At this time, parent/guardian will be required to sign an agreement that states that they understand that their child’s behaviors may impact their participation in Prom and the Graduation Ceremony
Don’t put yourself in a situation… • 20 or more unexcused absences OR four (4) Suspensions in Groups 4-6 • Already lost privilege of Senior Picnic and Senior Luncheon • Student may not attend Senior Prom • After 4 suspensions in Groups 4-6, the Senior Team and the Principal will determine the student’s eligibility to participate in the Graduation Ceremony
Throwing Away Your Money… • There will be no refunds once any money is paid if senior activities policies are broken!
All of this to say… • We believe in YOU • We know YOU wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize your senior year • We think YOU are incredible • We love planning events with YOU in mind • We have extremely high expectations of YOU
