Elastic Colliding objects bounce off each other, which typically occurs if objects are very hard or bouncy. Sum of the Kinetic Energy of all the objects after the event. Kinetic Energy is conserved in elastic collisions. Inelastic Two objects collide and stick together. Some of the Kinetic Energy is converted into other types of energy (heat, sound, etc.) Kinetic Energy is not conserved. Most Collisions fall somewhere between the extremes of a completely elastic collision and a completely inelastic collision.

Conclusion A traffic accident occurred on October 18th, 2013 in a 35 km/hr speed limit zone on Millway Street in which a 3000-kg Cadillac Escalade SUV rear-ended a 2000-kg Subaru Outback Wagon that was stopped at a stop sign. Based on the analysis of the auto expert, the collisions expert, and the investigator we were able to conclude that the inelastic collision between the Cadillac Escalade and the Subaru Outback Wagon was caused by the driver of the Cadillac Escalade exceeding the speed limit by 4 km/hr. This increase in speed decreased the amount of stopping time needed to stop the 3000-kg SUV witch resulted in the collision.
