  4. Aims of Unit 6: Developing Multimedia Products • This unit will enable learners to develop the skills needed to generate ideas for, produce and review a multimedia product.

  5. Tracking: what is tracking? • During session your progress will be reviewed, at intervals. • You, and your tutor will be able to track and monitor the progress made so far with the CURRENT unit assignment. • HOW? You will be able to see your progress and what criteria that you have covered so far, on a designed spreadsheet. • This sheet will be COLOUR–CODED, to help you monitor your progress and to show when you have eventually completed tasks/ criteria. • YOU (or your tutor) will play an ACTIVE part in completing your tracking and highlighting when criteria is met. • This will also help YOU and YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT in completing assignments, FULLY and ON-TIME!

  6. Session Objectives • To understand the Units’ Key Aims and discuss the themes in the unit assignment. • To prepare and research a location, that you have enjoyed the experience of visiting. • To evaluate the aspects of that place and to highlight the factors that contributed to your positive experience. • Multimedia focus: What is your most used Multimedia device? • Mystery Multimedia devices: You will be given a Multimedia device to incorporate into a visitor experience. • Apply your research and experiences to enhance the experience further. • Consolidation.

  7. Unit assignment: situation • The challenge of this brief lies in developing the awareness of Milton Keynes and communicating the unique experiences in the town, for 16-21 year olds, that sets it apart from other competitor towns/ cities! • Through your digital/ multimedia campaign/ you should tell the audience exactly what Milton Keynes is about, where it is located and help them understand why they should visit Milton Keynes instead of other current destinations. This should include learning experiences, attractions and experiences unique to the town.

  8. A PLACE I HAVE BEEN TO...ENJOYED...AND WOULD visit again!

  9. Research task: location, location, location! • Consider a place you have visited and enjoyed visiting (Not in Milton Keynes!) It could be another Town, City, or Country. • Try to recall the positive aspects of your visit, for example: a building, event, exhibition or even the atmosphere of that place. Put together a MOODBOARD of any images, colours, associations, people, food, weather etc. A Moodboard is a collection of ideas, mainly visual, brought together in one place. They are usually used in idea development, as a starting point to an eventual design or design work.
