  1. Planetary Story Project • We will be working on a 10 page children’s story book. • You will need to choose a partner • You will need to research an object in the solar system as its setting(any are ok)(No Repeats) • You will illustrate each page. • When it is finished, you will present it to the class. • It will be written at the 1-2 year old level. • Whichever story my daughter likes the most will win a free Pop Tart.

  2. Planetary Story Project • Day 1-4 = research (shown for a grade) • Day 5-7 = Story Development (shown for a grade) • Day 8-10 = Illustration (Goes to final test grade)

  3. Research • Describe the weather • Describe the planet • More info to be added here…

  4. Story Development • Use the weather and planetary conditions to imagine an organism that would live there. Describe the organism. • Determine an event that will happen to one or more of these organisms, briefly outline it. • Try to come up with a beginning middle and end • Example: Gossie loves boots, She wears them everywhere. Gossie looses her boots and goes to find them. Gossie finds them and makes a new friend. • Write a 10 page story (each page must have 2-4 sentences. Many of your sentences should be very descriptive.

  5. Illustration • Every page must be fully colored • You are not being graded on your art, but your effort • On the front of your booklet you must include a drawing of your main character, the title, and the authors names. • On the back of your booklet you must draw and label whatever is important about your planet.

  6. Rubrick Research (daily grade) Lots of facts neatly organized = 100 Few facts very sloppy = 60 Story Development (daily grade) Drawing of organism = 10 pts Description of organism = 30 pts (must include how he is adapted to his environment) Outline of story = 60 pts (must include beginning, middle, and end) Illustration (Test Grade) 10 pages + cover + back = 50 pts Drawing shows effort = 50 pts Cover = drawing of character and author names Back = drawing of planet/moon/etc with 2 to 4 things labeled
