About Andhra University Alumni Andhra University was established in 1926 by the Madras University Act to serve the entire linguistic region of Andhra as a residential teaching- cum-affiliating University. Andhra University is not just one of the oldest educational institutions in the country but also the first to be conceived as a residential multi-disciplinary University. The 88 year old institution is fortunate to have Sir C.R. Reddy as its founder Vice chancellor and Dr. SarvepalliRadhakrishnan as the second Vice-Chancellor followed again by Sir C.R.Reddy and Dr. V.S. Krishna.
