About Gastric Balloonsurgery • The gastric balloon surgery is used for clients with class 1 obesity and above (BMI above 30).  • A major advantage of the gastric balloon is that only local anaesthetic is used (a subduing by an injection). • The insertion of the gastric balloon takes only 20 to 30 minutes. An endoscopic examination of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum is performed before the insertion itself. • The balloon floats freely in the stomach and gives the patient a feeling of being full; it reduces the free volume of the stomach, thereby decreasing the volume of food. This effect leads to weight loss.
