  3. Writing From yourposition • How does your position affect who and where you can publish? • Which kinds of publications should be prioritized? • What do you have to say? • Paper or book field?

  4. Planning to Write • Keep an “idea” journal • Organize paper submissions in excel spreadsheet • Consider what each paper contributes to larger research agenda

  6. Planning to Write • Be clear about the theoretical issue you’re addressing (Rickford) • Choose target journal Look at where articles you like are published Review their goals/policies Try to organize paper according to their guidelines to save time
