In order to obtain a finished product that is resistant to water, damage from heat and chemicals is essential, especially for high-volume production. The most effective method for controlling these conditions in the manufacture of such materials as polyurethaneprepolymer is a process called thermo-physical conversion. This involves subjecting the materials to extremely high temperatures and forcing them to develop stresses and strains that are favorable to the development of the polymer. There are three types of thermo-physical conversion reactions that may be used to create isocyanates and coatings: One particular advantage with regard to the preparation of polyurethane prepolymer mixtures is that the mixtures can be produced with relative ease. There are several procedures on how to mix these mixtures. The most preferred ones include: direct injection of the mixtures into the mold, which calls for the injection of the mixtures at a very high speed; stirred mixture of the mixtures (sometimes with the help of a stirrer) and then pouring the mixture into the mold at a low speed. If these procedures are followed then there is no need to mix the mixtures in order to prepare polyurethane. The mixing is done only once and then it is applied uniformly in the mold. Another advantage with regard to the polyurethane prepolymer formulations is that one may use them even if the production process does not call for the production of polymer mixtures. This is because the polyurethane itself does not require any further processing to prepare the final product.
