Laser Cladding, also known as Metal Cladding, is a technique for applying metal onto metal surfaces to avoid welding or bolting the parts together. It's a fairly simple process: Laser Cladding involves passing an electric current through the metal component, heating it, and melting the part, which in turn fuses with the other metallic component. In practice, this means that the components don't get hot in their layer - but rather only get hot when they come into contact with one another. The process involves moving the narrow beam of the laser over the metal surface to generate a cladding layer on the surface of the other part and then moving the metal retractable cord along the surface to create a second cladding layer on the exposed part. The two major types of laser cladding materials used are metal cladding (also called metal oxide) and thermoset plastic. In Metal Cladding, a thin layer of metal foil is used. On Thermoset plastic, a thermo- styrene injection is used. Both have found widespread success in the applications to which they are put. Both the Metal Cladding and Thermoset Plastic are popular with manufacturers because both improve corrosion resistance and increase strength and toughness. In metal-coated components, for instance, a layer of a specific metal, usually aluminum or tin, is applied to the surface. This provides a strong barrier against corrosion and helps to ensure that the component lasts longer. In the laser cladding process, the metal on the surface acts as a reflector, so the light that goes through the component is trapped, instead of distributed across the surface. This results in a stronger and more durable finish than would be possible with other processes. Read More : https://bit.ly/3iFhEZY Coherent Market Insights
