  1. THEY CAME OUT BUT NEVER PLAYED!!!!!

  2. Backstroke: Incessant rain turned the ground around six-year-old Asoni into a little sea, complete with waves created by Delhi’s brand new low-floor buses as they passed by. His parents, migrant labourers from Rajasthan, were in a rush to get to their worksite at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. But Asoni decided to practise his backstroke instead. A future champion, hard at work.

  3. Siesta: It’s Independence Day, and workers have been given a day off. After ages, two-year-old Sanjeev got to cuddle up next to his mother and take an afternoon nap with her.

  4. High Way: Controversies may have dogged the Barapullah elevated corridor, whether for its proximity to heritage sites, or the deadline delays. But for these carefree children of construction workers, the massive mounds of loose earth proved to be a happy playground.

  5. Playing Mama: While their parents left for work to build the CWG Village, Chandni, 5, would play surrogate mother to her six-month-old brother, Kanha. Here, she sits with another labourer’s child on a pavement in IP Extension watching the traffic whiz by.

  6. Bath Tub: The tankers came for just an hour a day and even though 4-yr-old Reena hated taking a bath, her father would insist on one every day. Ordeal over, she’d get tea and rusk as reward.

  7. Tera! Mera! Jahan? Let’s Go “Even though my father and mother leave me, my Lord will hold me Close..” PSALMS 27:10 (BIBLE)
