  3. Bridge Mode When we use router, we are more likely to use the PPPoE connection software of the router to connect to Internet, and that is why we put our current DSL modem/ Homeportal in Bridge Mode. So, that the PPPoE connection software of our DSL Modem does not conflict with your router PPPoE. So, Bridge Mode is basically disabling the PPPoE connection firmware of the DSL Modem to use the PPPoE of the router without any hindrance. Now, to put 2Wire Homeportal/ Modem (Firmware version 3.7.5 and above) in bridge mode, access 2Wire Modem Console page and click on Configure link under Broadband Link heading.

  4. Select Disabled under ATM PVC Search sub heading. • Then, select Direct IP (DHCP or Static) under Connection Type Drop down. • Click on Submit / Save to save the settings.

  5. Now, click on Configure Services link under Advanced heading and uncheck Enable Routing. Click on Submit / Save to save the settings.

  6. Reset/ Un-bridge 2Wire Homeportal Member can access http://homeportal/tech/resets.html or http://gateway.2wire.net/tech/resets.html and click on Reset to Factory state button.

  7. Disable Firewall/ Allow particular Applications Sometimes, member needs to disable the firewalls guarding his/ her system in order to make sure that the issue under question is not occurring due to the firewall. 2Wire consists an inbuilt firewall which can be find under Modem Console page for any alteration and changes. Here, we will see how to allow applications over 2Wire Firewall or disable the firewall. Access 2Wire Console and click on Settings under Firewall sub-heading

  8. To allow any Particular application over the Firewall • Select Allow Individual Applications option, select the application and click on ADD button. • Click on Submit to save the settings. To disable Firewall permanently • Select Allow all Applications (DMZplus mode) • Click on Submit to save the settings.

  9. Troubleshooting 2Wire • Whenever the 2Wire is first turned on it performs a Power On Self Test, The gateway must complete this test. • The Power light will flash green during POST when POST completes successfully the Power light glows steady green. • The Broadband Link light will glow steady green when the gateway has ADSL sync and a PPPoE session. A flashing orange light means ADSL synchronization is being attempted. A steady orange light means the gateway has ADSL sync and no PPPoE session, terminated PPPoE session. A flashing green light means a PPPoE session is being initiated. • The Local Network light glows steady green if a computer or other lan devices have a lan connection using any available provided access on the gateway.
