  • MORE THAN JUST LOVE IS NEEDED AND OWED TO YOUR CHILDREN.
  • THIS IS YOUR DUTY AS A PARENT AND NEEDS TO BE STRONGLY CONSIDERED BEFORE HAVING CHILDREN.

NURTURING- Basic Needs

PHYSICAL

  • Healthy food
  • Appropriate clothing
  • Rest, sleep
  • Safe, stimulating environment
  • Good hygiene

EMOTIONAL

  • Hugs
  • Kisses
  • Talking kindly
  • Be warm, friendly

SOCIAL

  • Teach manners
  • Show, teach respect
  • Allow time to interact with other children (play dates)

Intellectual

  • Provide language activities
  • Stimulate environment with blocks, puzzles, books, objects of different shapes and sizes, etc.

  • Parenting is the process of caring for children and helping them grow and learn
    • Takes time, energy, money, love, patience
    • Often requires sacrifices from parents
  • Encourage independence
    • Allow them to do things on their own
    • Mistakes are o.k.; this is part of learning; just be sure they keep trying

  • Discipline -teaching right and wrong behaviors
  • Punishment – a way to discourage wrong behaviors
  • Be consistent! – same reaction to same behavior every time
    • Don’t make false threats!
  • Use positive statements
  • Redirect
  • Praise often
  • Think before you react to a behavior situation!
