  3. The Introduction • First impressions are so important. It is true that the first impression— whether it’s a first meeting with a person or the first sentence of a paper—sets the stage for a lasting opinion. • It needs to hook the reader and make them want to continue reading!

  4. The Introduction • 1st sentence: Hook and engages It is your big chance to be so clever that your reader can’t stop! Examples: - Surprising fact - Something funny - Quote

  5. The Introduction (body sentences) • Describe your topic. (Brief summary of your novel and summary of your character ) • Description of your container. • State your 3 symbols.

  6. The Introduction • Final Sentence: make a good transition to the body of your essay. After catching the attention of your audience / readers, it's now time to lead them to the rest of your ideas.

Paragraph #1, #2, #3 • Intro.sentence: Introduce your topic • The meat: • Piece of information #1/Detail sentence • Piece of information #2 • Piece of information #3 (This is examples and quotes from the novel) SUPPORT EVERYTHING YOU SAY!!!! GO INTO DETAIL! • Concluding sentence: Wrap up what you said and transition to the next paragraph.
