  2. Graduation Earning Carnegie units or “credits” LA Core 4 Graduate Exit Exam (GEE) Diploma Endorsements College Entrance Test TOPS

LA Core 4 • 21 required units • 4 English • 4 Math • 4 Science • 4 Social Studies • 2 Foreign Language • 1 Art • 1 ½ Physical Education or JROTC • ½ Health • 3 Electives • Total = 24 units to graduate • All incoming freshman from the year 2008 and beyond will be required to follow the Core 4 curriculum for at least the first two years.

  4. Graduate Exit ExamGEE • Must pass English and Math • AND • Must pass Science or Social Studies

  5. Promotion • Sophomore……5 units • Junior………….11 units • Senior………….17 units • Graduate………24 units

  6. What if I fail a course? • Summer School- summer only • Traditional or Online • a3 Virtual Academy- school year or summer • Online • Louisiana Virtual School- school year or summer • Online • Must see a counselor to enroll • Enrollment is not open • Fees may apply

  7. 5 Year Plan and Endorsements • The Five-Year Plan is required of all students. Students pick a Career Cluster that interests them, and that choice guides their course selections throughout high school. Along the way, students fulfill the requirements for graduation, and may look into completing additional coursework for TOPS (a scholarship that helps pay for college) and for Academic or Career/Technical Endorsements.

  8. TOPS • Students that take certain courses may be eligible for a TOPS scholarship. The courses and requirements are listed in the TOPS Program rules, which can be viewed at: • www.osfa.state.la.us • or by contacting the TOPS Program at 1-800-259-5626, ext. 1012.
