  1. A multiple-choice quest adventure Written by 6G 2013 The Great Banana Quest

  2. 1. Banana Poisoning Fergus gazed out at his magical, beautiful and isolated island. The place he had called home for 13 fun-filled years. The island’s beauty was matched only by the peaceful nature of its people. One hundred years of quiet undisturbed peace. One hundred years of terrific good health. One hundred years of undisturbed, meaningful traditions. It was hard for Fergus to imagine being anywhere else especially as the “Great Banana Festival” was about to begin. This was his favourite day of the year, a time where the people from all over the island gathered to give thanks for the Great Banana.

  3. His mother and all the other woman would make banana cake, banana pie, banana splits and banana smoothies. There would be banana eating competitions, banana throwing and banana boat racing. Fergus wondered who would win this year. Even though he was old enough to enter, his thin and feeble body had not yet developed and while the banana gave people strength and power, he was as weak as jelly. “Come and help me with this banana smoothie,” shouted his mother, as she struggled to lift the enormous, jug of delicious banana smoothie. “Be right there, Mum,” replied Fergus as he glanced in her direction to see her lick banana smoothie off her finger as she struggled with the heavy glass jug.

  4. “Tastes good this year Fergus! Sure you don’t want to try some?” grinned his mother, showing that twinkling love in her eye. “I’ll be right Mum!” smiled Fergus, knowing that his mother was only joking with him. For as long as Fergus could remember, he had never eaten bananas. He didn’t like the taste. He didn’t like the smell. And he definitely didn’t like the texture. Maybe not eating bananas was one of the reasons he still had the body of a child. Still pondering the fact that he didn’t like bananas, Fergus ambled slowly towards his mother to help with the banana smoothie. Upon reaching her, he extended his arms to grab the jug, when she collapsed like a deflating balloon. Fergus dropped the thick smoothie and knelt down by his mother. She was warm, still breathing but only just awake.

  5. “Get help,” she whispered hoarsely. “Get help from the blacksmiths brother, he is the only one old enough to know what to do.” Fergus watched as his mother drifted into a deep sleep. He then gazed around. The clatter and constant chatter of the festival preparations had ceased. Silence, eerie silence engulfed the island. People, friends, neighbours, family, all lay still on the ground outside their homes with food spilled and splashed beside them leaking into the island’s clean, golden sand. Swiftly Fergus sprinted to the home of Toby, the blacksmith’s brother. Would he still be awake or would he be like the others, stretched out on the sand, drifting into an endless sleep?

  6. “Find my brother!” gasped Toby. “Only he can help us. We have been poisoned and will all fall into a deep never ending sleep. Only my brother has the special gloves that can pick the special plant to make us all better. Hurry, you only have a few days and then nothing will save….. us.” “How did this happen?” asked Fergus. “Every hundred years or so, the great banana that gives strength and power to our peoples also reminds us that we are to be careful, look after and value the weak. You Fergus, weak as you are, must rescue us. Hurry, find my brother and his gloves.” “But where shall I look? We haven’t seen your brother for years,” questioned Fergus. “Go deep into the forest. Look for the right path and.. ” Toby sighed as he drifted into a deep sleep.

  7. Glancing around the village, Fergus knew he was the only one still awake. How could such a day of celebration, turn so frightening? Rapidly getting to his feet, Fergus straightened his body and faced the forest. There were not many clues to follow. Without waiting a moment longer, and with thoughts of his family and friends Fergus sprinted into the forest, brushing aside the undergrowth that scraped his skin. The bright light of the sandy beaches was quickly replaced with dappled shade as Fergus dashed further into the forest. Soon even those shards of light turned dark as he ventured deeper into the thick, tropical forest. How could he find a pathway in this darkness? Could finding the blacksmith be harder than he first imagined? Fergus hoped not, as he continued rushing and stumbling further into the ever darkening forest.

  8. Tiring but staggering on, Fergus groaned as his foot tripped on the exposed root of a rather large tree causing his tiny body to slide down a small cliff. Climbing to his feet, Fergus blinked to clear his eyes and adjust to the new darkness. Appearing before him were branching pathways. Which way should he go? Did he go NORTH, SOUTH, EAST , WEST or NORTH-EAST ? North South West North-East East

  9. 2. Escape By Charlotte Fergus slowly walked north east. Not knowing what was ahead. Suddenly he dropped down and landed in a grass field. Looking around he heard a small, soft voice. He looked around, but no one was there except a butterfly so he thought it was in his head. Fergus kept on walking. But then he heard it again and relished it was the butterfly. Fergus was amazed that a butterfly could talk. It suddenly said ‘’Follow me, I will lead you to a safe place.’’ So Fergus did what the butterfly said. But to him everything looked the same. .

  10. After a while they stopped and had a rest as Fergus was really tired as they had been walking for hours. Suddenly Fergus heard a voice it was deep and scary. The butterfly told him to climb a near by tree before the voice got closer . From the tree they were looking down at 2 men that were running on the old, bumpy, dirt path. Fergus asked the butterfly who they were and the butterfly said that they chase after any new people that enter this world, the butterfly explained this had been happening for two years.

  11. When the men had finely gone they climbed down from the tree and kept on walking. The butterfly said, ‘’We only have five minutes walking left.’’ but suddenly the butterfly said, “RUN quick the flower is there. We are are not too far away.” Together they grabbed the flower and suddenly the unicorn came down. ” I can see those men coming,’’ said Fergus. .

  12. ‘’Look there they are,’’ said the butterfly. They jumped on the unicorn as quick as they could and rode away up into the sky!! Reaching for the grey, rocky ledge that lead to some doors, the unicorn dropped him off there. Did Fergus choose the STEEL, SCORPION SKIN, BEAR SKIN, VINE or WOODEN door? Steel Scorpion Skin Bear Skin Vine Wooden

  13. 2. North Path By Ellie Fergus stumbled into the north park not knowing what to do or where to go. He looked around to see what was near but he couldn’t see anything. He was on a lonely, deserted island. Fergus had heard about the magic flower, he tried to search for it carefully, he wondered where it might be. Suddenly he came across an evil witch as if she was trying to poison him. The evil wicked witch is a dwarf. The witch said, “Come here little kiddie. I have some treats for you!” He tried to run for his little short life. He looked up and saw the magic flower in the high blue sky. He wondered how he was going to get it. He was wondering for ages and ages but while he was fighting with the evil wicked witch he thought of an idea! A very good one too!

  14. Finally Fergus got his idea together. He saw a colourful butterfly fly past him. The butterfly was as colourful as the rainbow. He grabbed the butterfly quickly and carefully he put his magic to the test! He made the colourful butterfly huge! The butterfly had poisoning in it and shot the wicked witch till she couldn’t move. He rode it far, far away from the evil wicked witch. .

  15. Eventually Fergus came to a massive hole and jumped in it, it led to a whole heap of doors. Steal, scorpion skin, bear skin or vine wood. Which one will it be? Choose wisely… Did Fergus choose the STEEL, SCORPION SKIN, BEAR SKIN, VINE or WOODEN door? Steel Scorpion Skin Bear Skin Vine Wooden

  16. 2. The Lifeless Mine Shaft By Carl As Fergus walks down the south path it gets darker and steeper and most of all very narrow and it got so dark that he was practically feeling his way down the tunnel. Then CLICK! Suddenly he hears a hissing sound then some sudden clicks as some weird lamps in bedded in the ground turn on. As his eyes strain to see where he is there is another hiss and the whole of the entrance to the south path collapses in. As he runs he stumbles over like a blind man what seems to be a track. Surprisingly he realises he`s in an abandoned mine shaft.

  17. For a second he was looking around and then he finds an old rusty mine cart with a light at the front surprisingly he finds a torch hanging from the wall, he grabs the torch and lights the old kerosene lamp at the front of the mine cart. Then he pushes of the small, old, rusty mine cart. Then he got into the mine cart, the old wheels creak, as the mine cart roars down the slopped tunnel. Eventually the slope ends and the rails are reaching the end, as the end of the rails creep closer he jumps out of the mine cart and falls to the ground as the mine cart derails with a deafening thud.

  18. From all around came a mournful sound like a ghost as a wall appeared. As he walked slowly and quietly like a small bird to the wall then came a voice. Fergus stopped in his tracks as the voice said, “Listen well. There are 3 levers each of the levers has a symbol, on the wall there will be arrows pointing up and down with a symbol underneath. Match up the symbols they will tell you to pull up or pull down the levers good luck.”

  19. As the voice stopped the sound stopped. Fergus looks carefully and matches up the symbols and reaches out for a lever. As he moves each lever there is a soft click but on the last lever there is a crumbling sound as the wall separates revealing five doors a cold steel door, abrasive scorpion skin door, soft bear skin door, moist vine door and splintered wooden door. Did Fergus choose the STEEL, SCORPION SKIN, BEAR SKIN, VINE or WOODEN door? Steel Scorpion Skin Bear Skin Vine Wooden

  20. 2. The Mysterious Dark HoleBy Janaya Fergus was walking though the east path. It was a cold and icy like it had been snowing for days. Fergus thought, “Where can I be?” He continues walking around the island when suddenly he falls down a dark small hole. “Oh no, where am I? Will he be able to get out? Oh no!” Fergus cries. ’’ Where can I be?” Fergus continues to look for a way out. He finds a little passage way and went up. It was like a like a very wet water slide. Once at the top, he looked around and he did not recognise this place so he went back down.

  21. Fergus got down and heard a noise. It sounded like an elephant having a heart attack, he tries to go back up the hole but he is keep on slipping, the noise was getting closer and closer. Suddenly, Fergus starts to see a shadow. It is as an air Balloon. Fergus jumped around a corner when I really big thing looks around. Fergus looks around the corner and looks at it. It was only a little bunny. The bunny saw him and hops over to him. Fergus yells, “Don’t hurt me I never did anything!!!” The bunny replies, “Don’t worry I am only trying to help you.” So they became friends, and together they hop away to find a way out.

  22. Then Bunny Bob yells over, “There’s a big ditch that might help us get out.” So they wander over to the ditch. When they get there, they get ready to go down it. Bob said, “I will go down fist and see if it ok.” So down Bob goes and yells, “It’s dark but I can see light.” “YES!” “Come down you will love it down here,” Bob yells. Fergus was half way down when it drops. ’’Help !’’Help!’’ he yells. “I will catch you. Five, four, three, two, one, got you! Look you can see same doors. Let’s go and check them out.” Bob happily hops away into the sun rise. Fergus looks at the doors there are a choose of steal, scorpion skin, bear skin, vine door what one will he chose? .

  23. Bob happily hops away into the sun rise. Fergus looks at the doors. There is a choice of steal, scorpion skin, bear skin, vine or wooden door. What one will he choose? Did Fergus choose the STEEL, SCORPION SKIN, BEAR SKIN, VINE or WOODEN door? Steel Scorpion Skin Bear Skin Vine Wooden

  24. 2. The DragonBy Georgia Fergus goes west into the deep empty darkness. Fergus looks back but the way he came had gone! ‘‘I must continue,’’ he thought. He continued for what seemed like hours, but then a bit of light appeared out of a part of the tunnel. Then he heard someone call his name. The voice sounded rough but sweet. He walked towards the light then started to run. He looked out of tunnel, the light at first blinded him. His eyes adjusted to the brightness and saw a dark blue dragon. It stood proudly as Fergus looked at him. ‘‘A dragon!’’ Fergus shouted..

  25. His village had once told him fearsome stories of dragons that once attacked the village. Fergus knew how dangerous they are. Still thinking what to do the dragon interrupted his thoughts. “I am Twilight I hear that you are trying to find the black smith I am here to take you a step closer to finding him.’’ “How do you know?’’ asked Fergus. “I had a vision this would happen one day a long, long time ago, 300 years in fact. I hoped this would never happen but look now here you are.’’ Fergus told the dragon how he was the only one who could fix all this mess. ‘‘Hop on my back,’’ said Twilight. Fergus jumped on to Twilights back. It felt rough and soft- it felt very strange. Twilight opened his enormous wings that had been tucked in the whole time.

  26. He flapped his wings but nothing happened. ‘‘Oh......I forgot to tell you but us dragons can fly only from the moon’s power source’’ ‘‘So what does that mean?’’ Asked Fergus puzzled. ‘‘It means I can’t fly at day time but only at night.’’ So Fergus and Twilight waited all day till dark. The full moon was high in the inky dark sky. Something deep in Fergus didn’t feel right. ‘‘ We’re almost there, we will be there soon’’ said Twilight. A bit later Fergus heard something like an arrow being launched. Almost instantly Twilight let out a cry. He had stopped flapping his wings as if he was in a coma. They fell to the ground with a THUD! Twilight was bleeding a bit then something caught Fergus’s eye. An arrow was lodged in Twilights back left leg. .

  27. Fergus kneeled down next to Twilight. Twilight started to mumble under his breath. ‘‘Over there rocks.... dark blue... rocks.... give us another way to heal put one in my mouth...........” His voice drifted away. ‘‘Blue rocks, blue rocks’’ Fergus kept on repeating under his breath as he stumbled across the mossy ground until he came across some beautiful dark blue rocks under the biggest tree in the forest. He picked up a handful and started to run back to Twilight as he hoped he was not too late! He saw Twilights cold and lifeless body. Fergus put most of the rocks into his mouth and waited for any signs of life. .

  28. After what seemed like eternity Twilights eyes flicked open and he stood up gracefully. “Young Fergus it gives me pride to call you my friend, now I must repay you.’’ He flapped his wings magically and Fergus found himself in front of five doors. Twilight’s voice echoed “You saved my life. I hope we meet again Fergus” The five doors are Steele, Scorpion skin, Bear skin, Vine and Wood. Choose wisely. Did Fergus choose the STEEL, SCORPION SKIN, BEAR SKIN, VINE or WOODEN door? Steel Scorpion Skin Bear Skin Vine Wooden

  29. 3. The MazeBy Alister Stumbling through the steel door, as the door locks behind Fergus, he is trapped. Beyond the door was only a very dim light. Walking through the path is dimly lit and a bit foggy. Suddenly he trips on one of the stairs in front of him while hitting his head on the old, rusty, stone rail on one side of the wall. Following down the stairs, amazingly appears a maze. Which path will he take? Walking through the dark, cold and possibly deadly maze Fergus walks through a path and suddenly lots of dirt collapse. Then a light appears down the secret stairway like it was leading to a different maze. Fergus walks on through the second maze.

  30. “This maze is stinky,” Fergus whispered to himself. As Fergus walked through the maze blocking his nose, suddenly the dirt collapsed again in that second maze. “I’m going in a circle." Fergus thought. “But I did go lower” again Fergus thought. Fergus goes down the next set of stairs and this time he went through the maze he didn’t go down more stairs but he was left with a dark, empty and creepy house.

  31. As Fergus walked through the rooms it was as quiet as a non-snoring sleeper. After a little while of searching the house his last stop was a room known as the bathroom. He stepped into the bathroom he saw a red button as bright as the sun pop out of the side of the toilet. Fergus pressed the button and a secret entrance opened up. Carefully Fergus walked through the secret door. There he finds a box of tools, in that box there was a hammer, a spanner, an axe, a saw and a dagger. Which one will he choose to take on his journey? .

  32. Carefully Fergus walked through the secret door. There he sees a box of tools. In that box there was a hammer, a spanner, an axe, a saw and a dagger. Which one will he choose to take on his journey? Did he take the SPANNER, HAMMER, SAW or DAGGER? Spanner Hammer Saw Dagger

  33. 3. The Scorpion Skin Door By Finn Fergus opens the scorpion skin door, and walks slowly through as it slams behind him. He looks up and sees the sky is black. He looks in front and there are hundreds of little scorpions. He sees a skeleton with a lightning bolt sword. Fergus picks it up, weirdly he feels as powerful as a God. Importantly he saw a glowing river. Fergus was really thirsty so he went over to it, he gulped some water. It tasted disgusting he thought. Glancing behind he saw a bear. He saw a hole on the other side of the river. Jumping into the water he realised he couldn’t swim but he tried. Finally he was at the other side and he jumped into the hole.

  34. Carefully looking around, Fergus sees bloody bones everywhere. He just knew that there was something bad down there. Suddenly he heard someone talking. Quickly Fergus got his sword out, it must have been an illusion because there was no person. “That was weird,” Fergus said to himself. Suddenly he saw a massive, fierce scorpion that was as big as a car. Luckily he remembered he had his lightning bolt sword so he hid behind a rock. Crazily Fergus ran out, but it was gone, he looked behind him there it was. The scorpion was climbing out the hole, but painfully he felt a sting in his arm. It was the scorpion it had stung him. He hit it, the sword had a mind of its own.

  35. It was flying too, so he went over to a tool bench. Fergus had no idea why it was there, he looked behind him. The sword and the scorpion were gone. There wasn’t even a dead body so he looked at the tool bench. He could only carry one. “I’ve always wanted a tool!” Fergus said. “But which one?” Fergus thought about the choices; a spanner, a hammer, an axe, a saw and a dagger. Did he take the SPANNER, HAMMER, SAW or DAGGER? Spanner Hammer Saw Dagger

  36. Chapter 3By Sam Fergus adventured on, through the bear fur door. It was dark; almost pitch black apart from the menacing shadow from the stalactites. It was almost like there was something following him. Carrying on through the damp cave, he came to a halt. The cave split into two caves. Fergus instincts had told Fergus to take the right cave because his parents told him always to take the right path, so he took the right one, but suddenly he came to a stop. He had found a mossy abandoned underground village.

  37. The only problem was it was a drop down from the cave. Suddenly the ground crumbled beneath his feet; he slipped and found himself at the village. Fergus thought “should I go back?”, but then a menacing shadow was coming down the road, but all he discovered it to be was a fat rat’s shadow. He chose to go back, but the hill was too steep to climb up, so he decided to search around the huge village for an exit. He ventured through the forsaken village with trepidation building in his body and a pounding heart. His sixth sense told him that something was not right, but what? He scanned his surroundings- he still had a feeling that he was not alone and that the presence was sinister. .

  38. Fergus bravely ventured on knowing that his life could be in jeopardy. The path of his choosing took him through the overgrown village. He passed mossy houses which had vines choking them, and tree roots were hanging from the dark dome like structure of which he could not see to the top. In amongst the derelict houses he saw one house that appeared to still be structurally intact. He went into the house to see if there was anything in there that may help protect himself, but all he found was mouldy bread and rancid meat. The stench was worse than the banana pie which he hated! Fergus put on a scarf around his mouth and nose to be able to cope with the unbearable smell and then he started searching around the house again. He found a dislodged brick lying on the dusty floor. Out of curiosity he picked it up, and blew the dust off it and lodged into the slot in the wall from which it came, but what he didn’t know was that this was a trap! .

  39. The ground began to tremble and the roof started to crumble. He had no time to make mistakes now. Fergus dashed out of the no longer sturdy structure and hid in an alley way away from immediate danger. Once the dust settled he saw a pile of rubble where once stood a house. He took a moment to have a big sigh of relief and steady his nerves. He had no choice but to carry on his quest. Failure was not an option as so many lives were depending on him getting the cure. Thinking of his townspeople filled him with the courage to succeed. He knew there must be an exit close by, so he moved forward down the alley way onto a new street. He turned a corner and then saw a light.

  40. . “This has to be the exit “he said to himself, and he was filled with excitement, but this is short lived. At that moment a menacing Cyclops shadowy figure rose in the distance. It had been sleeping and yawned as loud as lion. It was blocking his escape route. He crouched down behind barrels to avoid detection. He thought to himself “phew, that was a close call, but how can I get out of this mess?” He heard footsteps as loud as a giant and was curious of the Cyclops’ intentions. He saw the Cyclops wander to the side of the building and he heard him guzzling down barrels of beer. He thought to himself “the Cyclops is getting drunk? I better use this opportunity to go forward”

  41. Fergus saw a rusty sword lying behind a rock. He moved forward with caution, sneaking quietly around the corner. Unfortunately he accidentally kicked a small pebble and it hit the metal rim of one of the beer barrels. “Oh, no!” he uttered to himself. The Cyclops turned around and looked straight at him. Fergus took a run for it, but slipped on the mossy pathway and fell. The Cyclops was gaining ground, but Fergus noticed that he was staggering. “He is drunk! This is my chance to defeat him.” He said to himself. Thankfully he still had his rusty sword, “but I am so small in comparison to the Cyclops!”

  42. He rapidly hopped onto a stack of barrels to get the height advantage. Meanwhile the Cyclops was uncoordinated and was taken by surprise with Fergus’ quick reflexes. He stumbled into the direction of the barrels on which Fergus was perched. Before the Cyclops reached Fergus, Fergus takes a leap into the air towards the Cyclops, driving the rusty sword into his oversized eye.

  43. He lands on top of a very dead Cyclops. Finally he can carry on with the quest. He sees the light reflecting off a shining object in one of the buildings. He investigates and finds a hammer, dagger, axe, spanner, saw but which one shall he chose to help he to get back on the quest. Did he take the SPANNER, HAMMER, SAW or DAGGER? Spanner Hammer Saw Dagger

  44. 3. The Wooden DoorBy Ryan Fergus walks through the wooden door which leads to the shadow underworld and he is excited about his adventure. He saw wood everywhere and he saw a gemstone in a wooden chair. Slowly he took the gem. The Blood sucking vampire came out of the wooden chair. "Run away now," the vampire said.

  45. Fergus tried to kill the vampire and he saw a lightsaber on the ground. It was ready to be used. Fergus used the green lightsaber on the bloody vampire. Fergus swung the green lightsaber and it cut the bloody vampire and that made it die.

  46. Fergus saw a wooden door. The gem lead to the tools but which tool will Fergus pick? Spanner, hammer, axe, saw and dagger to use.   Did he take the SPANNER, HAMMER, SAW or DAGGER? Spanner Hammer Saw Dagger

  47. 3. The Mysterious Underworld By Sophie Cautiously Fergus wondered through a strange looking vine door and fell into a dark mysterious hole.it was dark, cold and misty .Fergus couldn’t see anything .suddenly Fergus heard a strange voice. How was he going to get out if he didn’t know where he was? The voice said, “Why are you here?’’ Fergus didn’t know what to say. Finally Fergus came across to a magical land filled with weird and unique creatures Fergus saw a very strange wooden bridge. He thought for a moment and wondered who was talking to him.

  48. Fergus slowly walked to the bridge like a turtle walking along. Fergus saw a huge, green, strong monster as if it is a tall tall tree. The very green monster appeared strangely from under the bridge Fergus heard the monster say, ‘’Fee-fi-Fu-fum I am hungry give me lunch.’’ Fergus sprinted like a cheetah. Fergus ran over to a bush and he hid there for what seemed like days until the scary monster went away. Fergus had to figure out a way to defeat the monster. Suddenly Fergus came up with an idea to kill the green, slimy, discussing monster. All Fergus had to do was walk back towards the wall where the golden sword was held at , the most powerful sword of all the one and only thing that Fergus had wished to touch. Slowly Fergus moved towards the wall. Accidently stepped on a stick. Quickly he grabbed the sword walking fearlessly towards the monster. .

  49. Fergus had hit straight through the monsters feet. Fergus swung the sword back and forth until he swung and hit the monster straight through the heart. Fergus finally had defeated the monster .He walks over the bridge and happens to find a shiny silver box written. ‘’Use these tools wisely.” Fergus opened the box and saw a selection of tools. There was a spanner, saw, axe, hammer, and a dagger. Choose wisely because you only get to choose once. Did he take the SPANNER, HAMMER, SAW or DAGGER? Spanner Hammer Saw Dagger

  50. 4. The Dark Hall By Ellis After Fergus got his sledge hammer. He looked all around the hall and it was all made of rocks and stones. Quickly he ran into a rock golem that was protecting the gold key that can get to the blacksmith but the golem could not be reasoned with, making the golems blue eyes g red and the golem ran up to Fergus.
