  1. TestBeam cern Nov 2010preliminary results Yonathan Munwes , Erez Etzion, Yan Benhammou, Ehud Duchovni, Amit Klier, NachmanLupo, Giora Mikenberg, Dmitry Milstein, Meir Shoa, Vladimir Smakhtin, Alex Vdovin, Meny Ben-Moshe, Boris Yankovsky

  2. Test Layout • collected 2M events • First use of pads for self triggering ATLAS IL

  3. Goals • show self-trigger capability • Measure efficiency of pads, wires and strip • Measure resolution of new prototype using fast digital readout • Measure angular resolution • First combined TGC-MDT test ATLAS IL

  4. Efficiency result For each layer we select good triggers: demand that all other layers work well in proper start-stop window and have exactly one cluster. Then we look if we see anything in the tested layer STRIPS PADS WIRES ATLAS IL

  5. Resolution • Defined a time window for the event • Demand exactly one cluster per layer • Alignment correction for internal shifts between layers in the same detectors σcorr -resolution after correction for extrapolation/ interpolation ATLAS IL

  6. Angular Resolution • The angular resolution for the new prototype • The Base distance is 33mm • We get an average angular resolution of ~3mrad ATLAS IL

  7. Conclusions • We proved self-trigger capability using pads • The efficiency of wires, pads and strips was measured to be 100% above 2.8kV • The new detector digital resolution is between 60-70 μm. Reach the analog resolution of the old prototype • We measured average angular resolution of 3 mrad for base distance of 33 mm (new prototype) • Still need to do a combined analysis with the MDT ATLAS IL
