  2. Possible Causes of Delirium Hypoxia: decreased SaO2 levels Sleep deprivation Systemic infection Head trauma Drug intoxication Poisoning Renal Failure

  3. Goals of Study • Collect SaO2 data using pulse oximetry from appropriate subjects. • The SaO2 data will be analyzed to determine if there is a correlation between periods of hypoxia while in the ICU and a decline in mental/physical function.

  4. Between VA, VUMC, and Meharry Medical College, 80% of patients that enter the cardiac-pulminary ICU exit with some form of delerium • At 6 month check-ups, 30% of patients still show some form of delerium • Nashville, TN is ranked as the 25th largest city in the U.S. according to 2000 census data Why is it a good idea to build this?
