  1. Year 3 Learning Plan- Autumn Term This learning plan tells you all about the learning your child will be doing in their class this term and how you can help them at home. The most important things you can do are- Talk to your child about their learning, Ask them questions about their day. Sit down with them to do their homework. Share stories and listen to your child read. • Reading • Each child has been given a specific day to change their reading book. • Please can reading books be bought into school every day. • How can you help at home? • Please encourage your child to read for 10 minutes each day, this could be a book, comic etc. • Read a story together. • Sign in the reading diary and say which pages have been read. • Talk about what you and they have read. • Visit or join the library. • Topic • This term we are learning about Ancient Egypt. • We will be: • Studying the lives of the Ancient Egyptians. • Researching the pyramids and mummification.. • Writing our names using hieroglyphics. • Enjoying an Ancient Egyptian party where the children can try Egyptian food and wear Egyptian costumes they have created. • How can you help at home? • Please start collecting small boxes at home as the children are going to be creating their own Egyptian tombs. PE and Fitness Being fit and healthy is essential, so we make sure that every child is active through our PE lessons, playtime and after school clubs. During the Autumn term, PE kits will be needed every Tuesday and Wednesday. Please can you ensure your child has a change of footwear. • Maths • Times tables • Children will be given a practice sheet every Wednesday and tested the following Tuesday. • How can you help at home? • Please encourage your child to practice their times tables daily. • Science • Characteristics of materials • How can you help at home? • Talk about what objects at home are made from . • Discuss why objects are made from certain materials
